Air Fryer- do you have one? Is it used and what do you make?

I am trying to save money by eating at home. I was at Costco today and saw a digital air fryer for $70.
I feel this could help us eat at home. We have a 17 year old son who loves wings. If you have one,
how often do you use it and what do you make in it? Or will this just end up collecting dust!

I use ours at least a few times a week. Last night we had breakfast for dinner and I put hasbrown patties in it. I have done hamburgers, chicken breasts, pork chops and tons of premade frozen type things.

I use mine a good three or four times a week. Do fries, tater tots, chicken wings, chicken legs, chicken breasts, pork chops, shrimp, and fish in it. It has replaced frying for me in general.

When my first one died, I went out and bought the Foodi Ninja Grill and am now also grilling indoors with it. Shockly is works great for burgers, steak, chicken grilled.

I love mine! I mostly make wings and steak in mine. I've also cooked breaded chicken fingers and buffalo shrimp in it too. DS is 16 and can easily throw in some chicken wings in for himself.

We love to make mushrooms (marinated in olive oil, basil, oregano and garlic before frying), tater tots, veggie burgers and French fries in our air fryer and use it about 3-4x a week.

I received one as a gift - ironically at the time I was starting to take a close look at them and compare different models. Anyway - the one I got (can't recall brand off the top of my head) works just fine, although if I am to be honest I hardly take it out of the pantry anymore. It's no different than using the oven, and I can do more (limited by how many wings/fries I could make at a time, so was doing two batches) of a quantity in the oven. So I usually just use my oven. If I was doing wings this Sunday or any other day, I'd make them in my oven.

We have one still in a box that my parents gave us last Christmas. But, my parents use theirs all the time. Perfect for reheating leftovers (mostly pizza and anything fried) which they do a lot. They use it for grilled cheese style sandwiched and of course fries et al.

Bought one yesterday somewhere else. We played around with it last night. Did a couple of fish filets, chicken tenders, fries...just make sure you dont use the oven time! Bought a few other things to try in it tonight. One friend makes a ton of wings.
I'm looking at trying to make a little pizza in it with those small pizza crusts you can buy. My kids (teens) are looking forward to playing with it.

We considered getting one but after much research discovered it's really just a smaller convection oven. We have a convection oven so seemed a little silly. I did find out that while the air fryer is technically a convection oven since its smaller it will cook faster but the food comes out the same in both. We also thought about one for our RV but our microwave in our RV is actually a convection oven as well and smaller than a home oven or even the RV oven so that was a no again.

I have an oven with a convection feature that I never use. It still is a lot of wasted time to heat up the whole oven for a small amount of food and it still never comes out as crisp as when I use my air fryer.

I use my air fryer a lot, definitely a few times per week. I don't eat french fries or other pre packaged frozen foods due to health and allergy issues, but I make my own gluten free chicken cutlets, london broil, gf breaded fish for fish tacos, fresh wings, chicken breasts, pork chops, meatloaf, and quite a few recipes from skinnytaste. It's smaller than my oven, takes way less time to heat and cook and makes things crispier than the convection oven.

I was on the fence for a long time with buying one because I mistakenly thought you could only make frozen foods like fries, mozzarella sticks, chicken nuggets, ets. and we never buy them or eat them. After I started really looking into healthier recipes in the air fryer I bought one at Sam's and we love it! My mom bought me the skinnytaste air fryer cookbook for Christmas and ironically, I bought my daughter an air fryer and the same book for Christmas! She loves hers too!

I cook almost everything in my air fryer now. So much so that I hardly ever turn my oven on! Tonight, I made frozen salmon and Brussel sprouts from Costco. I don’t normally cook fish because I never liked the taste. Air fryer fish is excellent!

I also cook pork chops, chicken, meatballs, chicken wings, shrimp tacos. So yummy! My normal oven and microwave have convection capability, but I don’t think the food bakes as crispy in Those as it does in the air fryer.

I also use it to heat up frozen chicken nuggets and fries. It reheats leftovers beautifully. It is very versatile.

I have a cuisinart one that has a larger air fry basket. It also bakes, broils, toasts, etc.

I noticed it cooks a lot faster. Tried frozen pizza and nearly scorched it.
Anxious to try other foods.

I love mine. Mainly use it for french fries and they come out really good. I have the Ninja Food Air Fryer Oven so it's an air fryer/toaster oven. It's so versatile.

I don't have one, but when we re-did our kitchen last summer, we put in a convection oven when we chose our range. We have a big family with teens, so I needed the space to cook large volumes of food! But, I can say that I love the way it crisps food. The countertop models would be great for someone who cooks smaller batches than I do.

I have one that I'd be more than willing to give away. I've used it a couple times in the past 2 years. I have a convection oven over my stove that "air fries" better than my air fryer.

We have our 1st air fryer as a Christmas gift. One of the like 6 in 1's from Sams Club. Within our first few days we made simple crispy egg rolls by buying the wraps at walmart and some BBQ pulled pork, and using cheese sticks with the wraps. We've tried hard boiled eggs, bacon, diced or whole potatoes. We are wanting to try fried pickles and zuc's next. Wife joined a good FB group that had a lot of ideas, and also bought several air fryer recipe books.

I have one, and so far I really like it... alot...and am using is weekly, for the last couple of months...

So far I have done,

Chicken wings, I think turning them is the key, to get them browned all over... DH is like they taste just like they are fried...and to me they are moister than traditional fried wings...

Fresh potato wedges... you just need like a teaspoon of oil, to keep them from drying out... and browning up nicely... again moving them around while cooking get a even cook and browns them up evenly.... I mix some sour cream and fresh herbs to dip them in, for something a bit different from the normal ketchup... make a great side dish or a appetizer or just a snack....

Frozen fries, and tater tots.... you really have to shake them around to get a even cook... and watch them...

I did meatballs once, I think I should have made them a bit bigger, and or adjusted the time, or heat... they were a bit on the dry side so, I just need to adjust a few things...

So far that's all I have tried...

I want to try, chicken and onions and peppers for fajita, or tacos - or some type of chicken or shrimp stir fry...

I have seen where you can do like shrimp or veggie tempura....

Stuffed mushrooms, is another option I would like to try out...

Suggestions where to look for recipes, or if you have one that you would like to share that would be great...

Thanks in advance...

Yes, mine is a small convection oven. That's fine as I cook chicken on the racks weekly. Also, I have the rotisserie option and will put a pork round in it. I tried the dehydrator function for green beans, but they came out virtually inedible. I would like to cook pizza in it, but it is too small so I have to use my range's convection oven.

I love skinnytaste recipes! Here's a link to her air fryer recipes:

Chicken wings in the air fryer are the best! We've found that fresh wings cook better than previously frozen wings. The fresh ones really taste like they were fried! My dd and her boyfriend have these requested for Super Bowl.

We use our air fryer a few times each week! My DD likes making chick peas in it and eats them as a snack, but my favorite is easily doing baby potatoes or making sweet potato fries in it. Haddock has also come out really good! I'm not usually into new gadgets but this one has been very worth it.
