I'm in the process of planning our next trip and have a question for your frequent flyers.

I'm looking at going either the Sunday after Thanksgiving or the following Sunday.

I can't check airfare yet, for these dates, but I need to call, in the next few weeks to make my reservations at OKW.

My question is, based on past years, would it be cheaper to fly the week after Thanksgiving weekend? I would think it would be cheaper, since a lot of people return home on that Sunday following Thanksgiving.

What do you all think?

I would think it would be cheaper since the demand woudl be less, but I have never flown then. I do know the closer you wait til departure the more youll pay, altho if the plane isnt full they may discount seats.

Those of us who had booked on Southeast ran into this if we were leaving shortly. I was getting quotes from the major carriers (Airtran, Delta, Cont, USAIR) from 1200$ - 1866$ OUCH!

I managed to find a cheaper fare...now I am just hoping I did the right thing by booking this airline. You know the saying 'you get what you pay for'....lol

Anyway.....I woudl call around as soon as you could book and compare. Play around with the websites too.....sometimes you can get a better rate that way.

The Sunday after Thanksgiving is the number one travel date in the US. It will probably be more expensive.

Hi Sharon!

This is when I went down last year(2003). We flew down on the Saturday afternoon after Thanksgiving, rather than wait until Sunday. As we stayed at BWV from Sun-Wed, we stayed the Sat. nite at All Star Movies and then checked in early Sun AM at BWV(& were able to get the exact area we wanted to stay in as the "early bird gets the worm"!) Going on Saturday & paying the extra nite for the hotel was cheaper than the difference in air fares for flying on Sunday.

If you want to leave on a Sunday, I'd wait till the following weekend after Thanksgiving as airfares on the Sunday after Thanksgiving are very high.

I usually wait to book airfare until after Southwest opens up their schedule through the time I want to go as I find Delta(& I imagine others)usually follow and puts their fares down to match Southwest. We're not fond of Southwest only because of the "cattle call" for boarding.

Hi Sue

I think we'll wait and go the following Sunday.

Since there are five of us going, I would have to get two rooms, which, I'm sure, would eat up any savings I get in air leaving on Saturday.

We're hoping to get a Grand Villa at OKW. From the pictures I've seen, they look really nice!

Have a great Christmas!
