I've been keeping an eye on air fare from DFW to MCO since I booked my trip two months ago. We will be traveling 5/31/2007 to 6/10/2007. When I first started looking, airfare was running ~$350/person (expensive!). I knew I had seen prices around $200, but those were for known off-season travel times (not summer) and not a major carrier. The cheapest seats I've seen for a major carrier/decent times was ~$225/person.

Today I got online and found decent flight times with a major carrier for $250/person, but I can't decide if I should book it or not. I know it's wayyyyy early to be booking, but I really like the flight times. Yes, I'm willing to pay a little extra for good flights on a major carrier!

So, do I book it? Seat availability on all these flights is very good now. I've got plenty of time. Are there any DIS'rs out there who can tell me if this is a decent deal or not?

BTW, SW is not an option for us. DH will only do nonstop flights, and SW can't fly nonstop out-of-state from Dallas (darn Wright amendment).

Thanks everyone!!!

I would book it if you are particular with regards to schedule times, especially since SWA is not an option. (I'm no fan of the Wright Amendment either! :sad2: ) The fare does not sound bad to me, although I am no expert on fares from Dallas. I don't blame your husband, though; non-stop makes for a much easier trip if it's available. The chance you take in not booking is missing the chance to snag a fare at your desired schedule and/or carrier. There is always an element of risk in waiting too long; the good fares/schedules are sold quickly. (I found that out the hard way, having to book return flights at 7:00 am!)

You have lots of time. If schedule is one of your chief concerns and you are happy with the fare, I'd recommend booking it. Credits are usually available if the fare decreases and you meet the fare restrictions.

I am afraid to tell you to wait.....but I vote for waiting. We have gone those dates for 3 visits, and have never paid over 275.00. I generraly buy tickets in Jan/Feb and can still get the flights I like with AA, usually at 250.00. Sign up for Airtran emails and you will get heads up on sale fares. I have yet to use them, but they do have some non-stop flights to Orlando as low as 99.00 each way (buy the time you ad tax, etc. I would still fly AA)

i'm flying out of DFW next Friday and we paid just right at 800.00 for 4 tickets. I think that was pretty good and i have yet to see them cheaper.

I'm flying airtran thru disney, both non stop...out 7am return 8pm, so early depart, later return. Airtran doesnt have many non stop flights and they often change air flight times or cancel and rebook arbitrarily so watch your resies!

I could have gotten AA (which i would prefer) for 283.00 per person r/t before taxes, about which would have been A LOT MORE EXPENSIVE. I was only willing to fly non stop and the early departure/late arrival thing. If your more flexible with depart/arrival and lay overs you can sometimes get cheaper deals.

I would probably book the 250.00. Not a bad price for summer season, but dont kick yourself if you later find it cheaper.

My Brother in Law was chief of police there for years, and i can tell you historically DFW has some of the most expensive flights out to orlando ( or anywhere else for that matter) and likely will until Love Field can open the Wright admendment and we get some competition.

Good luck and have fun :)

We flew DFW to MCO last May and paid $230.90 for nonstop tickets on Air Tran. I flew May '05 DFW to MCO for $210.90 on American Airlines. I think I would wait awhile.

I agree with everyone else the Wright Ammendment needs to be repealed. It doesn't seem fair when we see the $49.00 one way fares SW can offer everyone else. The cheapest we've ever found for DFW to MCO was last Sept when we got $173.00 r/t tickets. The normal fare from DFW to MCO seems to average $210.90 for both AA and Airtran, from what I've seen. I made six trips to WDW in just over a year last year and that's the average that we paid.
