Does anyone know how to override the air conditioning sensors at WDW? We will be staying in WL. It seems like everytime we stay at any Disney resort the air conditioning cuts off during the night and we wake up sweating. Any help will be greatly appreciated and help not have a grumpy DH every morning.

Thanks...only 14 days to go to WL!

Hmmm - I saw it in someone's trip report. I think you press the down button & the off at the same time and it comes up with something that lets you put in the temp you want it to be - you may have to do it more then once. I can't remember who's trip report it was!

I read a tip somewhere to let a helium balloon bounce around in your room. Essentially fooling the motion sensors and keeping the air on even when sleeping or at the parks.

Found it - Team Renfroe's report referred to Buzz 2001's excellent FAQ on CSR!! I'm subscribing to this so I can find it in September!!

On the thermostat, push the power button and the down arrow (button that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly, you will see the letters "bp" where the temp normally shows. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. You might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours.

Just be aware that there are more than one type of motion sensor themostat on property. Some of them do not have a "on/off" button to push, and I've never been able to set them to stay on. I've tried the balloon trick and it works most of the time. I know for sure that the ones at BCV were not like the one pictured, and I don't believe the CR ones were either.

I read once that you can hang something from the ceiling fan (like a lei from the Poly) and the twirling effect keeps the AC on. That is if the override technique doesn't work.

The down arrow+on/off button trick worked at the poly a couple years ago....hoping it works at WL this summer!

Here is a tip that I copied a couple years ago:

On the thermostat push the power button and the down arrow (that adjusts the temp) at the exact same time. If you do this correctly there will be the letters "bp" where the temp numbers usually are. You are now bypassing the sensors in the room. You can then set the temp to whatever you want and it keeps the room that cold whether you are in it or not. The maintenance man said that you might have to do this once a day as the thermostat tends to go back to sensor mode after 24 hours. We found that it stayed on bypass for a couple of days at a time. It was great to come back to a cold room or not wake up in the middle of the night in a sweat again. The CM that did this for us said it was not a problem doing this as they do it for people all the time. Guess they get a lot of complaints."

Funny - it has the same verbage as buzz2001, must have been his tip.

Does anybody know if the ac at either POR or AKV can be overridden in this way? I overheat easily and cannot sleep if too hot. Any info would be appreciated.

I'll be at the POFQ in September and it would be great to be able to do this.

I'm staying at POR in September and would love to know this too! Anyone?

I will admit as to not knowing what everyone is talking about ... we stay at POR a lot and ... okay, I'll admit it! ... being a "woman of a certain" age I cannot tolerate heat ... at all. We always turn the AC on as high (or low) as it will go and go to bed. In the morning it (as my DH puts it) is cold enough to hang meat! I didn't even know there was anything to "override"!

I be staying at the ASMu in Sept and i HATE sleeping HOT!!!:scared: Please tell me this is the same AC sensor that i will be able to override. Thanks!!!

I remembered about the overide system when we stayed at POP last May. Our room was VERY warm and sticky when we arrived and every time we would leave for more than an hour and come back the room would be that way all over again. Once we were inside for the night, the temperature was fine but gosh, I was wishing I had remembered how to overide the system!
I may try the balloon or lei on the ceiling fan trick too next time!

This is great!
Hope it works::yes::

Our last 5 or so stays at WL, the thermostat is not digital. It was the old conventional style, lever at top for heat/off/cool and a rotary dial to set temp. I've only seen the digital ones at the Poly. Good luck, the ones at the WL did not need being fooled. Like on TV, set it and forget it but the mousekeeper usually resets it after she leaves, night time was no problem.
