Hi,

We're looking to book table service restaurants for a nice break from the midday heat. It sounds like many of them actually have a lot of outdoor seating so I'd like to figure out where we'd be guaranteed to sit in AC comfort.

Thanks for your help.

Well all of the sit down restaurants are going to have inside areas that are air conditioned I believe, so just request an inside table when you check in. That said, Blue Bayou doesn't have any outdoor seating. I don't think Carthay Circle does either. Carnation Cafe has outdoor seating but they also have a good amount of indoor seating.

In Disneyland, only the Blue Bayou has indoor-only seating. Cafe Orleans is primarily outdoor seating, with a handful of indoor tables (they're the least popular option - I think - so you probably stand a pretty good chance of getting one if you request it at check in). Carnation Cafe and River Belle Terrace both have indoor and outdoor seating (seems fairly balanced, although I've never counted the tables to make sure). Both times I've dined at River Belle Terrace, I've been asked if I wanted an indoor or outdoor table. Carnation Cafe has been more of a mixed bag; sometimes they've taken seating requests or asked if I had a preference, but the last time I went they were not taking table requests at check-in (had to take the next available table).

Over in DCA, Carthay Circle has mostly indoor tables. There is a patio area outside, but I've never actually been seated out there and I've very rarely seen anyone seated at those tables (even when I was there in July last year). The Carthay Circle Lounge, while it does not take ADRs, is entirely indoors. So I don't think they use those tables very often. Wine Country Trattoria is mostly outdoor seating and the "indoor" seating isn't air conditioned (at least not that I could tell - I was there during a rainy night and it was very cold "inside"). Ariel's Grotto has both indoor and outdoor seating, but I haven't eaten there, so I don't really know if the split is balanced and if you can make table requests.

We ate at Carthy Circle last July and were seated on the outside patio in the evening ~ it was lovely, with a nice breeze.

When speaking to the CM, they don't usually use the outside seating area for lunch.

Golden Horseshoe is also air conditioned and is just walk up.

We did BB on Sunday for lunch since it was so hot. It was awesome to have a nice, cool break!

Carnation and Cafe Orleans keep the doors between the indoor and outdoor areas open. If you're looking for AC, even they indoor seating, especially at CO isn't that much cooler. It's not TS, but I believe that the indoor area of Plaza Inn has AC. You could also try places DTD or the hotels. ESPN Zone has AC and lots of indoor seating.

There are a few counter places that are indoors. In DCA Flo's Diner has both, and in the GCH, Whitewater Snacks is indoors with the air blowing just to name a couple for example.

Smoke jumpers in DCA has a good amount of indoor seating as well as Golden Horseshoe at Disneyland. But they are both counter service.

Redd Rockett's Pizza Port has some indoor seating and some outdoor seating (some of the outdoor seating is along the walkway to Space Mountain, so it's covered and seemed somewhat cooler than being in the front area outside seating). The only drawback to the indoor seating at Pizza Port (and Golden Horseshoe) is that it can be very loud inside when it's full. I think Pinocchio's Village Haus also has some indoor seating. Along with the CS locations already mentioned over in DCA, Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Pig Cafe (aka Starbucks) has mostly indoor seating (which is a necessity when eating a sundae from Clarabelle's in the summer! :goodvibes).

We were there last Saturday during the heatwave and I made a mast minute Blue Bayou reservation for 3:30pm and it was PERFECT. We even got a water side table without asking and we took our time and even got dessert.
It was an ideal break and really helped a lot. Earlier we ducked into Whitewater Snacks which was very nice and cool and has great options from fruit and yogurt to salads and sandwiches and hot items.

Plaza Inn also has air conditioned indoor seating, in addition to outdoor seating. It is counter service, but I find it to be lovely and relaxing inside, once you get your food.

Even though Storytellers Cafe isn't technically in-park, it's just steps from DCA, right through the direct entrance to GCH. We love having lunch there in the middle of a hot day, as the A/C is awesome and it's a great break from glaring sun.

Thank you for all the wonderful comments. Exactly the information I was looking for.
