ok, we are going to florida in 4 days and are flying in sunshine first with tcd. however from all the reviews i have read i am worried we may be put on an Air Atlanta plane which is old and only one class.
however my mind was put to rest when i went onto www.travelcitydirect.com and looked at the flight code for the tcd planes. it was 5A which is what we have confirmed on our tickets, however the air atlanta plane code was either CC or EUK, so if that is on your ticket then you may be flying with AA.
i am not totally sure if that is how it works but if it is then i hope that has helped some people. if it hasnt and you have now realised that you are on an air atlanta plane then GO AND PHONE TCD AND TELL THEM THAT IT IS NOT FAIR THAT THEY PUT YOU ON AN AA FLIGHT BECUASE THEY ARE SO OLD!!! :rotfl:
any one got any details on how the sunshine first cabins are? please and thank you! :earseek:

Please let us know all about Sunshine First - we're going in September and would like to know whether it is as good as it looks!

I rang the call centre and they have said that your on a travel city plane if the invoice states sunshine first etc as on the other planes it is listed as something else

Of course it doesnt help all of us

thats true about the flight codes.we too are travelling sf in october 2005.

the only trouble that may still happen is when a plane has a technical problem they do hire an air atlanta flight.

unfortunately you will only know this when you check in.

nick n sara :confused3

anyone flown in the sunshine first cabins before and got any details as to how good it was! :Pinkbounc :hyper2: :sunny:

we went with air atlanta last september
we upgraded plenty of leg room,
food was ok but when we got to the
airport we were told it was an older plane.
the other had problems, the inflight entertainment was really
bad.we did fly straight across so the time in the air was about 8hrs.
:hourglass  :badpc:

I did sunshine first last june-loved every second of it!

we were first on the plane and also had a seperate check in desk.
Seats were massive with footrests-kind of like a reclining armchair. We had tv screens and table in the chair arms.Food was great and drinks were free-what more could you want!
By the time we landed we were totally chilled-looking behind us at economy made us wonder how we ever coped before!
This year we are doing sunshine premier upper deck.Have been told the seats are the same size, only difference seems to be luggage allowance.

Sorry but there might just be a flaw in that plan. :( We were booked on a flight number starting with 5A last Sept and ended up on an awful old plane, however there were major problems with the plane we were supposed to go on so we ended up on another one (the awful one.) I suppose we could have been meant to be on a TCD plane originally but everything at the airport etc was handled by Air Atlanta which suggests the orignal plane was one of theirs...

Well, my flight numbers for this September begin with 5A but I remember quite clearly booking on the Internet as a TCD flight. When trying out different day combos, AA flights and TCD ones were clearly marked as different.

If you do a spoof internet booking on your departure date it should show this info.

This is very bad publicity for TCD, lets hope if holiday truths and a few more sites have this they they will take notice. I know they have added a 747-300 or two to the fleet since last summer but not sure how this will equate to what people fly on.

this is the problem with "cheaper" airlines, they do not have the equipment to fall back on if their aircraft goes "tech"
they then have to lease very quickly whatever is available.
You wonn't really know until you board or are told that the premium cabin is now not available
As Air atlanta now own TCD? will this mean that TCD will get AA's old aircraft?

This last weekend people were flying out of Manchester (and Sanford) a day late with Air Atlanta. Delays seem to be a regular occurance and last year they had the worst record of any airline with over 40% of their flights being late by at least an hour.
When you think TCD are cramming over 500 people on these flights they are putting a tremendous amount of people to a load of inconvenience.

Can't see the takeover having much beneficial effect for passengers because the delays are invariably due to the airline and they now own the whole lot.

Certainly puts me off but then I am flying with US Airways

Terry, do you have a link or a reference for that info? I've tried on several occasions to find out data on the punctuality of different airlines flying to orlando and Sanford, but couldn't find anuthing for TCD/Air Atlanta.

Thanks Terry, that's helpful. The news item gives overall performance for charter airlines to all desitinations, and Air Atlanta does badly, but what I'm looking for is a route by route comparision. Ideally I'd like to compare the punctuality of the charter routes from London-Sanford compared to Ba & Virgin into Orlando, but I've not been able to find an easy way (or even a difficult way!) to find these data. Oh well, the search goes on!

well now there is two days until we go and i pray we are on a tcd plane. i hope our experience of sunshine first is as good as yours. :cool1:

Now found the data that I was looking for. Info posted in new threads about punctuality.

am flying in sunshine first in 2 days and want to know anyone elses experiences with it(as long as they are good!!!) :bounce: :rotfl2:  :mickeybar :jumping1: :worship:  :dancer: :charac2: :drinking1
oh the excitement!!!!! :teeth:

We flew Sunshine First last August. It was an enjoyable way to fly, and represented very good value for money in my opinion. Loads of room, a quiet cabin, good ratio of cabin crew to passengers, etc. I'd be happy to fly SF again.
