aifare rates? what day of the week is best to book?

I think I have read on here that Tuesday usually show the lowest rates. Is that correct-- or was it Thursday? I have been playing the airfare game for awhile and can kick myself when I saw a much lower rate last week that what is today. I can't remember what day of the week it was although. Isn't there a rule of thumb about what day is best to book or look for rates? Thanks

I have found the absolute lowest Tuesday or Wednesday and as early as possible in the day as you can - I book as soon as I get to work around 6:15 am. I have seen them jump up a bit around the lunch hour.

The fares tend to do up Thursday night through Monday afternoon, when families are home planning their vacations.

I buy on Tuesday or Wednesday and fly on Wednesday. Big difference in price.

I agree with others. I also subscribe to Yapta to watch my flights and let me know when they drop. Since I fly Jetblue exclusively, I've seen price drops during other days, but as a general rule late Tuesday/Early Wednesday seems to be the best time and avoid weekends most of the time.
