A 21-year-old employee at a Tampa water park was killed when he was struck by lightning over the weekend.

Justin Inversso was struck while standing in a few feet of water at Adventure Island on Saturday. He was a lifeguard supervisor.

Authorities said his co-workers performed CPR on Inversso, but he later died at a hospital.

I heard it happened at the Key West rapids slide which is that slide that has that awkward section after you first slide off and are dropped into a catch pool where a lifeguard then has to push you to the next section of the slide. The park should have probably had the slides cleared before the lightning was that close, and that slide should be the first one closed when lightning is anywhere in the area as no lifeguard needs to be in that 2-3 foot deep catch pool 100 feet up a slide.
