Ahoy November 12th, 2009 Cruisers!!

To prepare for the Alaska sailings, a brand-new venue called Outlook Cafe will be added to the Disney Wonder during dry dock in October. Located high atop deck 10, the 2,500-square-foot Outlook Cafe is a stylish retreat for guests to relax and enjoy a beverage or cocktail as they peer out through floor-to-ceiling, curved glass windows at breathtaking vistas. The design of Outlook Cafe is sophisticated with contemporary Art Deco inspiration. An elegant spiral staircase connects Outlook Cafe with the existing Cove Cafe one deck below. The 65-seat lounge has a granite-topped cocktail bar with comfortable seating throughout the space, all providing picture-perfect views of the surrounding landscapes.

Yay! :yay: Yay! :yay: Yay! :yay: We'll be able to check this new area out on our cruise! Yay! :yay: Yay! :yay: Yay! :yay:

How long did yours take?? I am at the 4 week mark since we had ours in. I am hoping they didn't lose our birth certificates. Exactly 2 months till most of us fly into MCO! It seems so real all of a sudden!

Ours was super quick! It was probably about 2 weeks from the time we filed to when they were in our hands. I was really impressed. Our BC's came back separately, but they were in the same mail delivery.

YAY!! We will be one of the first to check it out!!! WOW! This trip is getting better and better!!!

Should have known you guys would have already posted about the new area. I can't wait to check it out. It's getting close now. Does anyone know if the dry dock is done in Norfolk? I might have to drive down and check it out.

Arlington, Texas?! Seriously?! I WAS BORN THERE!!! :lovestruc How crazy!

But I haven't been back since we moved. My parents moved back to Ohio when I was 1, so I've never seen Arlington in a way that I can remember. Maybe I'll have to come and visit!

Small world!!! I have been in Arlington since I was 2. *useless fact* My twin brother and I were born in Tyler, TX which is in Smith County. His name is Tyler Smith. My mom said that was just coincidence.

Hey guys! I'm so ready to cruise!

Anyone else see the news that the Wonder is going to Alaska in 2011? I am so excited...already tried to convince my parents to go with me. :)

Jill in CO

Us too Jill! Getting very excited now that school is back on and fall is approaching. All this news about the new destinations and new castaway club tiering too. We have one trip "pre-booked" with a place holder for next winter but I'm thinking we should look at the new itinerarires and maybe pre-book another while on board in Nov.. You can always move them around if you change your mind and 10% is 10%. I'm going to need another job to pay for all this!

I think I will prebook onboard. My brother is talking about taking my niece and nephew to WDW for the first time that year too so I have to ration my vacation days. :)

Just got ours yesterday. Took 13 calendar days.....we were completely shocked at how fast! Old passports were mailed seperately, but in the same mail delivery.

How many sailings after drydock is our cruise? Isn't it exciting? We've never been on the Wonder, so won't notice the changes, but are excited that it will be shiny and clean.

Decided to bring our costumes. Won't take any more room than another outfit although we're going to have to wear the hats on the plane (ought to be intereting). I am planning on extending the skirt on my dress. It has become shorter since 2006.:rolleyes1

Anyone else trying to do all carryon?

We only have a 45 min layover in NY; so are concerned about lost luggage. AND after looking at the luggage fees for Delta? Wow!

So, our Malibu rum and water bottles will be purchased in FL. and if we can't fit the softsided cooler in the luggage, we'll get that there too. Luckily my two dresses for dinner are gauze and can be rolled. I'll wear my boots on the plane. Otherwise have sandels and flipflops.

Trying really hard to do this. I'm planning on putting complete outfits in large ziplock bags like I usually do with the children. This will give us a place to put wet suits if needed when repacking for the return. If we need to, we'll check some baggage on the return.

Spent time in the attic with DH yesterday measuring all our luggage to figure what will work. Have a large carpet-bag that will become my "purse" for the flight.;)

Does anyone know if it will be cool at night or in the restaurants/theatres?

Yes, DisneyNan, you're going to want a jacket/sweater for the theatres, dinner, and walking the decks at night. On our last trip I got sooo sunburnt at Castaway Cay that I was FREEZING when we got back to the air conditioned ship. Luckily, they sell long-sleeved shirts and sweatshirts in the gift shops.

On another note, I logged in to check if we had been assigned a stateroom number, and we are STILL at GTY! I am hoping for an awesome upgrade! :wizard:

We're now under 60 days!! Whoo Hoo!!:banana::banana:

I've been reading other posts that indicate people were getting their room assignments around the 30 day mark. Do you expect earlier?

We also booked GTY 12. Way back in Feb AND we're first time cruisers with DCL; so also hoping for an upgrade although we're just happy to be getting on the ship. Would love to get our assigment though as that would give me something else to research/obsess over.:rotfl:

Got an email my passports were mailed friday, priority mail, so should be here soon!

Busy weekend, canned 46 jars of tomatoes yesterday... on top of having two birthday parties to attend and working on the summer/winter clothes switch(something I dread!)

I am trying to just check one bag, rest carry on since I am heading airtran down. Flying back southwest so will probably check them all on the way home so we don't have to mess with them. I am really packing light to try avoid some confusion.... with going to WDW, SW and DC plus the cruise, it is going to be hard to stay organized.

going to go peek on rental cars right now......

All this packing talk has really got me thinking...

Has anyone had experience with those packing cubes? I saw a thread on the main DCL forum about them and they look pretty cool. Everyone who has them says how great they are, how much room they save in the suitcase, and how organized everything stays because of them.

Does anyone here know what I'm talking about? Does anyone here have them?

I've seen the packing cubes, but I haven't tried them. I just don't see how they can save you room- I would think they'd take up room.

I am going to try to do carry on as well. I figure I can pack for a four day work week as a carry on I should be able to do a 4 day vaction. I was very excited to fine a 3 oz can of spray sun screen. I got burned at castaway cay the last time, because I didn't reapply. The spray is a lot easier to deal with, and with the 3oz size I can carry it on.

Hey Guys!

Sorry I haven't been around I have been in and out of the ER this week with a Kidney Stone! OMG This was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life. I would take re-breaking my ankle screws and all ANY day. Feeling much better now :thumbsup2

I can't believe how close we are. I am super excited!

Does that mean that Palo will be gone? What would this new area be replacing?

Does that mean that Palo will be gone? What would this new area be replacing?

No, I'm sure they are not replacing Palo, especially since part of the new tiered Castway CLub included free dining there with the Platinum level. I'm really anxious to see it! I'm not sure what it will replace...maybe part of the Wide World of Sports area on deck 10?

OMG Lynn! :scared1: I hope you are the mend now! Feel better girlfriend!
