Ahoy November 12th, 2009 Cruisers!!

I have a question about something you guys were talking about back a few pages. Sorry... I would like to know how it works to rent someones DVC points. We will be coming in a day early cruise and I would love to do this. Just don't know where to start or how to do it. Thanks to any help.:worship:

Basically you are "renting" a DVC reservation using points. You contact a DVC member who makes a reservation in your name using their points. You pay the DVC member a set amount per point that the reservation requires (8 points * $10/point for example) You will not be able to speak to DVC member services as they will only communicate with the DVC member so there is a level of trust with this on both sides.

There is a rental board on Disboards where you can post a request. I am a DVC member as well and if you want to PM me I might be able to help you.

Hi GagaMouse! :wave2:

I recently rented enough DVC points to stay at Old Key West the night before our cruise and at Animal Kingdom Lodge the day we disembark.
:woohoo:
The process couldn't have been smoother. I made a request over on the DVC Rent/Trade board stating that I would like to rent enough points for a studio in any resort on Nov. 11th. Once I made my post, I received offers from several DVC members.

In the end I found a member that I communicated with and felt comfortable working with. She rented points to me for $10 per point. Once we agreed on the rental price, she mailed me a contract, which I signed and returned. Once this was done, she made the reservation in MY NAME at each of the resorts. In the contract we agreed that I would send her payment in full within 10 days of receiving a copy of the confirmation of the reservation. Once I paid for the points, everything was all set!

It was just that easy. I highly recommend renting points. I would be more than happy to help answer any additional questions about this, as well as give you the contact information for the person I rented points from.

Feel free to send me a PM or email at hbeck001@defiance.edu

Hope this info helps! :disrocks:

I still need 3 more post to pm anyone. After this one I am down to 2.

Man it wont even let me post my email address until I have 10 posts.

Thanks for all the help.:thumbsup2

Renting points is a bit like ebay though..... so there is a smidge of risk. They potentially can cancel the reservation before you get there. You can ask for references and also check the county website in Florida to be sure they actually own DVC points. Last year I rented Wilderness Lodge for 6 nights for $830 and this year I rented Bay Lake Tower for 4 nights. So far I have not had any issues.

Be sure to read the directions on the rental board as if you dont' have the listing exactly as disboards wants it.. you will get a nasty pm and your post will be pulled. They only give you a few chances to get it right, then you aren't allowed to post there. So just read it correctly and post it accordingly, not that I would know anything about that :confused3:rotfl::rotfl:

Did you guys read about all the excellent upgrades they are going to be doin at CC?:woohoo:

I did! I did! :cool1:

I am totally excited. I have been in touch with DU about a November 2010 cruise and would LOVE :lovestruc to be able to rent a cabana. I am thinking of booking the Grand for 5 days and then another 3 nighter. I don't know if we will get the chance in 2011 since I will be done with my degree and hopefully have an awesome job and then DH wants to go back to school to finish up his degree.

I know at the Grand a cabana rental is 185.00 for the day (10 am to 7) so I am curious of how much they will cost :confused3

Also did you guys hear about the new CC tiering system? Check it out: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2273314

:woohoo:Hi Everyone, we will also be on this cruise!:woohoo:

DH and I have full pirate costumes from MNSSHP 2006 that we're thinking of packing, but I've been reading a lot of postings on the cruise boards that not many adults dress up on the three night cruises. Sooooo, I thought I'd join you folks and ask. Forgive me for not reading through the 50 pages here....I did a search and did not find this topic covered.

We're looking forward to dressing up pirate:, but don't want to be the only adults in the dining room in costume. Any other closet-pirates out there?

hoo boy! that tier thread was 10 pages long over the last 3 days. there was a lot of folks with plenty to say! it will be interesting what DCL finally decides. funny how it "got out" before it was supposed to be public. :sad2:
we also want to rebook on this cruise!

Welcome disneynan!:yay:
as for the dressing up- no us, not this time. DS may be tho

Welcome Disneynan! Great pic! I wont' be dressing up... the girls just have pirate ear hats from disney and pirate shirts. We are going discovery cove, sea world and wdw too, so trying to keep packing at a minimum!(yea right!)

Lucky me..... I finally got moved up to main dining! Wooohoooo! Can't tell you how excited this makes me. We eat dinner at home at 4-430pm everyday!!! so waiting till 815 was stressing me to no end. I had finally decided we would only eat Animators night and nothing else..... but now maybe I can look at the other menus and actually enjoy a nice meal too!!!

We're going without the kids for our 20th anniversary. Our initial reservation from DU had us with late seating, but we were able to move to main seating with no problem. Good thing as my DH has GERD and can't eat late. Plus that gives me more time to digest before the pirate buffet!

We debated eating at Palo. At first it seemed a no brainer to eat there as we won't have the kids with us. But we couldn't decide which restaurant to skip, and since we will miss one of the regular menus anyway, we decided to just eat in the main restaurants.

We're also planning on some spa treatments on Nassau day. Not sure what, we're hoping for some specials to be advertised on the ship.

So.....still not sure if we'll go in our full pirate costumes. But if we do and you see us, please come over and say "Hi"

Are you all planning on wearing lime green mickeys at all? We wore them and decorated our room with them a few years ago at Pop, but not a single person recognized us as DISers.

:welcome: disneynan!!!

Our last cruise was a four night and we drove so we took our full pirate costumes. This time we expect to fly and won't have room in our luggage. The costumes had 1 whole large suitcase last time! BTW - going without the kids - I'm jealous!!!

:welcome:Disneynan!

Glad to have you Aboard!

Sorry :sad2: but DH and I won't be dressing up for pirate night. DH has restricted me to two suitcases so no room!

As far as the green goes...a group of us ordered lime green bracelets so that we can identify each other. I had them embossed with "Got Dis? Disney Wonder 11/12/09" I had to order an even number so I ended up with 2 extra if you and DH are interested send me a PM.

We are also having a meet at 3pm by the Goofy Pool and are doing an FE exchange if you are interested :thumbsup2

Thanks for the welcome!

You guys look awesome, great costumes. I understand about the luggage. When we went in 2006 (sig pic) we also drove. I packed an entire suitcase with our costumes and decorations for our room. It was a lot of fun.

Looks like you and your family are Wonder experts. Our last cruise was 20 years ago, so we are super-excited. DH loves anything Disney so this is perfect. We would have a hard time with the $$ to take all 3 kids, so jumped at this cruise when we saw the rates last winter.

So what do you still have to do to prepare for our fast-approaching cruise?

Here's my To-Do List  :

book return flight from Orlando to Detroit

book rental car for day before & day after cruise

purchase FE gifts

prepare shopping list (I'll be doing quite a bit of Christmas shopping on this trip!)

My To-Do list:

Print off navigators and study(one of the hard points of being the only adult, need information, information, information before hand!)

Start a packing list(hopefully can start getting some of the kids summer clothes together for this).

Organize my info(park tickets, hotel reservations, rental car reservations)

Save some cash :rotfl:

Lose 10 lbs

purchase FE gifts

buy waterproof camera ??

Pray for good weather and safe trips for all of us!

Find cheap airfare to Atlanta for my nephews Christmas wedding :rolleyes1

can't believe we are almost to the 60 day mark!!! time for major obsessiveness!

Starting to work on my fish extender and FE gift. Very excited we're only 2 months away!

I'm starting to freak out a little that I won't get everything DONE!!! Can't we all just put real life on hold while we do nothing but plan for this vacation???  :upsidedow

I'm doing a paper for school:mad:
