I am sick to death of these political ads, namely the ones that end up on my phone numerous times every day. I am SO SO SO happy that they should end after today. I'ev received 7 calls today alone from Alan Grayson's campaign and I'm about to shut my phone off entirely.

Also...has anyone ever received text messages from a politcal party?? I received a few of those and I've never authorized texts.

I am so sick of them, too. I don't answer the phone because I know it's a political robocall, but then I end up with messages to delete. It would probably be easier to answer and hang up.

I especially hate the ones that assume my position on certain issues just because of my political party affiliation. I listened to one (don't ask me why!) that went on and on about how Candidate X was so horrible because of his position on one issue, but their candidate was so wonderful because he took the opposite position. I really wish that had been a real person, so I could have responded, "if that's the case, I will be voting for Candidate X." :rotfl:

I can't wait for the phone to not ring 10 times every hour (caller ID is a wonderful invention - I pick it up and immediately hang up so I don't get messages on the machine).

I'm also excited to be able to open my mailbox and not have 20 postcards from politicians fall out

I've done a pretty good job of avoiding them this year thank God. I block ads on the Internet, in the 3.5 years I have owned my home I have answered my land line exactly zero times, and the only live television I watch is soccer which has no commercial breaks. Everything else is DVR'd so I fast forward through the ads. Even if I am sitting in front of the television when the show is on I go do something else for 20 minutes to allow enough time to build up that I can skip the commercial breaks.

As for the fliers and ads in the mail, those go right into the trash with the rest of the junk.

In the past couple of years I have really seen very few ads of any sort, political or not.

I know, they are so ridiculous. I refuse to answer my land line if I don't know the number and just let the machine get it. All political postcards and flyers go straight in the garbage and just about anything we watch is DVR'd so we zoom right through all the annoying commercials.

The only time I can't get away from them is on the radio in the car. I could put a cd in, but sometimes I just like the radio.

I just got back from voting during my lunch break. On the way out I asked one of the Voting officials if there was a box I could check that said I had voted, and would automatically stop the calls for the rest of the day.

I have had 3 calls so far today and I'm sure there will be more. I'm really ready for this all to end. :thumbsup2

Just why are politicians exempt from calling people on the Do Not Call list?

They are so annoying. Whether you let the machine get it or pick it up and hang up right away, it is still annoying.

They are the ones who make the rules (or appoint the ones that do) so they just exempt themselves. Not a bad gig if you can get it.

I live in a very low populated District for the State House of Reps and I know the Head of both major parties for our area. You don't know how many times I've considered this. :rotfl:

Here's what I don't understand:

I have yet to meet one person who actually likes the constant phone calls, millions of pieces of mail, etc and bases their voting decision on that information they get. So....why doesn't someone wise up and NOT do it during an election? I would actually consider giving my vote to the candidate that didn't send postcards & waste money on smear TV ads, no matter the party affiliation. If NO ONE likes this crap, why do they follow the same tired formula, each election?!

I think it comes down to two reasons:

1. They get donations for advertising and feel they have to spend all of it.

2. Unfortunately there are people who go to the polls and not knowing who the candidates are or what they stand for vote for the one who's name they recognize. I suspect a lot of people do this for all the judge positions that are on the ballot. In that regard the bombardment may at least accomplish something.

it's almost over!:) Yay!

what was really irksome this year for me was that I was only getting calls form the "other party" and not the one I am registered with! What's up with that!?

less than one more day, less than one more day........:rotfl:

Good points, I bet you are right.

It kills me that some people vote w/o actually doing research on the issues that are important to them. But what can you do...

I've avoided the tv ads because I DVR everything and can zip through them, but the calls have been very anoying. I've blocked the numbers that called me the most (yay digital voice! I can just go online and enter phone numbers I want blocked!) but still some got through.

It was cool for my co-worker though, a candidate actually called her, live and in person, so she got to chat with him for a few minutes.

I wouldn't mind so much if they only called once or twice per campaign ("Hi, this is who I am and what I'm about and I hope I can count on your support"), but they call several times a day, every day, and it gets VERY old VERY fast.

And I'm sure they killed at least one whole tree with all the mail they sent me.

That's odd! I got them entirely from my "own" party! They stopped around noon today though, Thank God!!!

I'm a registered independent so I got calls from both  :headache:

I'm glad it's over. :thumbsup2

I know that's right!:rolleyes1, instead of wasting my tax dollars sending me unsolicited mail, I wish they would send me a refund for all the money wasted by sending those things:headache:
