AGLET – We're Gonna Tour The World Together! Updated 11/9!!!

I can't wait to read about your dinner. Tell me there will be pictures :yay:

Glad you got an earlier time...:goodvibes

Again, you crack me up with your side notes
Yes, my footwear is an integral part of the story.

(No it isn't.)

rotfl:

If we're summer camping at the Poly, sign me up! (I've been to summer camp, and I wish it had been Poly-esque!)

Your photos are lovely...I can't wait to hear about your Citricos experience!

What? You are stopping just short of dinner? Your killing me! That's OK, you made up for it with a very funny update! :thumbsup2 I can't believe you found the note for the slipper but Wingnut still couldn't remember what restaurant he ordered it from! Well, actually I'm sure Denny would never be able to remember that either.

Those pictures from your perch in the GF are just lovely. WOW! And I can totally see the roof of the WL in that one picture. Put on your reading glasses - you'll see it.

The Poly reminds you of summer camp? Sign me up then! :rotfl:

Hahaha dinner is coming up soon, I promise! I never go TOO many updates without some sort of food! :rotfl:

At least the cake hotline was able to sort it out!

I seriously still can't see it!! :lmao: I KNOW it's there though, I absolutely remember taking the picture of it! Everything is too green!

How cool would Disney summer camp be???

Glad you tracked down the slipper!
I love the pictures from your balcony. I can see the WL roof too!
Can't wait to hear about the meal!

Hahaha it was found in the system! The balcony was really pretty and relaxing, a fun way to enjoy the lovely warm temperatures before dinner!

Oh, good, glad those ominous sounds were cleared up. :thumbsup2

You're making me want to stay at the Polynesian!!! Maybe, when I do my taxes tomorrow, we will end up with twice the normal refund! Ha ha ha! A girl can dream, I guess. Your descriptions of walking the paths, the sounds, the smells take me right back to when Charles and I stayed there almost twenty years ago. :goodvibes

What a great idea to bring shoes to change into -- that's really smart!

Can't wait for dinner and chocolate slippers!

Hahaha nothing TOO ominous, thankfully!

The Polynesian was really fun to stay at, it really is different than any other resort I've been to!

Thanks!! I can't stand uncomfortable shoes!

I had a feeling said comments had something to do with a surprise! Too bad it wasn't able to stay that way!

Beautiful pictures!!

Can't wait to hear about your dinner at Citricos!!

Actually, it turned out to be a bit of a good thing that it was no longer a surprise...

Thanks!! :goodvibes

I can't wait to read about your dinner. Tell me there will be pictures :yay:

Glad you got an earlier time...:goodvibes

Again, you crack me up with your side notes

rotfl:

Oh, I promise there will be plenty of food pictures!! :thumbsup2

It was the perfect early dinnertime for us, having skipped lunch!

Hahaha thank you!!

If we're summer camping at the Poly, sign me up! (I've been to summer camp, and I wish it had been Poly-esque!)

Your photos are lovely...I can't wait to hear about your Citricos experience!

Hahaha I've never been to summer camp, so just wandering around the Poly was sort of what I imagined it to be, in a picturesque way. (I think a lot of my summer camp visions came from The Parent Trap :rotfl:!)

Thanks!!

I'm so glad you tracked down the glass slipper dessert! I told Brandon I want one when we go to Cali Grill, but he's gonna forget! I should just order it for myself! :rotfl:

Monorail can definitely be used as a verb! You can also say "monorailing" or "monorailed". Nothing wrong with that! :cool1:

I love the GF, I used to think it was too stuffy and Victorian too, but the more time I spend there, the more I want to be there like, all the time. Like a whole trip maybe. :)

I definitely use "monorail" as a verb  It works!

I can't wait to hear about Citricos! One of my favorite things to do (because I'm a weirdo) is to read dining reviews of the signature places, because I have to live vicariously! :rotfl:

I've never been to REAL summer camp... I've been to Girl Scout camp though. But it was day camp so... yeah, I can't help you out with your analogy either!

Monorail is DEFINITELY a verb.

Hahah, Wilderness Lodge or no Wilderness Lodge, it's still a pretty picture!

While I cannot believe that you stopped just short of dinner...I will forgive you for such a funny update. So funny, in fact, that I just read the whole Poly is like summer camp passage out loud to my husband. :lmao: And I really did laugh. Out loud. I didn't just smile. I laughed.

We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at the Grand Floridian. It vaguely reminded me of the Beach Club, which I was really missing by that point. I had always thought I'd never want to stay there, but I could actually see it. It is total fantasyland. I feel like Mary Poppins or the couple from Lady and the Tramp are going to pop out from somewhere. :goodvibes It captures that whole Disney-fied Victorian feeling really well, if that makes sense. If they changed their bedspreads to white linens, I might just jump on that.

Can't wait to hear all about Citrico's.

I'm here! :yay: Can't believe I missed out on so much, but I read from the beginning to catch up. DH and I are Epcot lovers, too, but we did stay at WL on our last trip, and we enjoyed the area. Glad you had a great stay at the Poly :) We did enjoy the beach area when we walked around the resort.

Of course, as usual, I am enjoying the food porn! We're getting closer to our 180-day ADR window, so I'm getting back into reading dining reviews again.

PS - DH and I also love Phineas & Ferb :thumbsup2

You had me laughing out loud at the summer camp analogy and you have never been :rotfl:

Glad the uh wasn't a serious uh oh! I get what you mean about the GF...though I will have to check out the DVC option :rolleyes1

Looking forward to the dinner review!

"(Hey, I'm a Jersey girl through and through. All adventures either begin or end at a diner.)"

:rotfl: as soon as I read this, you had me sold on this TR. I'm from Jersey as well and I can certainly relate. I love your report & style of writing.

I must disagree about there being no low crowd times at Disney anymore. We went from Dec 5-14 and I could not believe how empty it was. I knew it wouldn't be packed to the gills but I was expecting more people. The only crowds we experienced were for the night entertainment at MK (because of the Christmas party, there were less nights for non-partygoers to see everything) and the Osborne lights.

Too bad you didn't like the Red Velvet Cheesecake Cupcake. It must have been a bad one. I've had it twice and didn't find it to be bitter at all but maybe it's just my taste. I dream about that cupcake! haha :cloud9:

Can't wait to read about your Citricos dinner! I love that slipper dessert, though the Mini Wedding Cake is my fave GF specialty dessert. popcorn::

Hahaha I did offer to just order it myself, but Wingnut said he would!

 I agree!

It is pretty there! How cool would it be to start your vacation in that gorgeous lobby??

I definitely use "monorail" as a verb  It works!

I can't wait to hear about Citricos! One of my favorite things to do (because I'm a weirdo) is to read dining reviews of the signature places, because I have to live vicariously! :rotfl:

Hahaha I think so to!!

Oh, I live vicariously through dining reviews of all the restaurants!! I love hearing about all of them!

Hahaha I went to day camp too! But they weren't very Polynesian-like either!

Thanks!!! I'm positive it's there!

Hahaha thank you!!! Idk, it just seemed to have that vibe to me!!

Awww I totally get the missing the Boardwalk area. It is very Disney-fied Victorian! Kind of like Main Street in the MK! I'm not sure what the bedspreads are there - the usual Disney patterned look?

Lovely view! I  palm trees!

I love them too!!! They just reinforce that "vacation" feeling for me!

ACK! I've missed so much.

YES! Most definitely a HM! :thumbsup2

I'm sorry you still haven't found the hat you were looking for.

Oh Wingnut, how could you forget the restaurant you ordered the slipper from?! :rotfl:

Hahaha I thought so too!!!

I guess he just isn't a super-planner like the rest of us here...:confused3:rotfl:

Welcome back Sophie!! Glad to have you here!! :goodvibes

Yay for your ADR window approaching!! Where are you considering for this trip?

I'm the P&F fan in our home...Wingnut just rolls his eyes every time he sees me watching it (which is a lot!).

Hahaha does it count if I've seen a lot of movies where the characters were at camp??

Nah, not a serious one at all! Oh, I am VERY curious to see what their DVC is going to look like!

Welcome!!! Glad to have you here!! (And yay for NJ! :thumbsup2)

We've gone during that time frame before, it seemed to be a bit hit-or-miss. That's also when the POP Warner group goes, so while the parks aren't always packed, a good portion of the resorts are. I think the Osborne lights are ALWAYS crowded though!

If you ate it all together, the cupcake wasn't too bad! But I'm a "eat a bite of this then a piece of this" kind of (annoying) eater. So the cake being bitter really stood out to be. Hahaha there are Disney desserts I dream about though! (Napoleons from Boulangerie Patisserie are one!)

I've never had the mini wedding cake dessert! (I don't think I could really order one/ask Wingnut to order one without it really seeming like I'm hinting at something...:rotfl:)

Okay, all caught up now. The cowboy hats and lassos? Totally a hidden Mickey.

I love your breakdown of the red velvet cupcake. You should really be a food critic for sure. You break it down in a way I never would even think about. ;)

Hmm.. I remember hearing the name "Pop Warner" quite a bit but had no idea what it was! Crowds didn't seem too bad, but then again we stayed at Pop Century which is pretty big, so I guess we were nowhere near them.

I will definitely have to try the Napoleons! I've never had one. Always excited to try a new Disney snack... definitely adding it to the list! :thumbsup2

I'm the P&F fan in our home...Wingnut just rolls his eyes every time he sees me watching it (which is a lot!).

I thought DH was nuts for liking P&F at first (he's notorious for watching anything on the Disney Channel), but then I started watching it too, and it is awesome! A lot of the jokes definitely aren't for kids. Now we both wear our P&F shirts with pride.

ADRs for this trip are proving to be more perplexing than ever! I've been making a list of places that we've never been to: Bistro de Paris, Artist Point, and all the DTD restaurants except Raglan Road. Then there's the list of places we love and want to return to: Jiko, Le Cellier, Sanaa (your fav), Flying Fish, and Yachtsman are on that list. Of course, most of these are deluxe dining, and we are trying to explore more CS restaurants too, plus we'll be eating snacks at F&W. It looks like we'll be doing TIW this time instead of DDP, so that will change our mentality a bit. Maybe reading some of your reviews will help us decide.

Thank you!! I'm just enthusiastic about describing frosting and other deliciousness!

That's great that you weren't affected by crowds! Pop Warner is a youth football and cheerleading group that comes to Disney every year for competitions.

Napoleons are a definite must-have! They're so creamy and flaky and wonderful! :lovestruc

Hahaha isn't it a funny show?? I know, I felt silly loving a kids show at first too, but it really is clever!

Your restaurant choices sound great! Not to give away TOO many spoilers, but we did go to Bistro de Paris and Artist Point on this trip (and loved them both!)

(Especially Artist Point.)

That'll also be so much fun to be able to visit the F&W booths! I would love to visit during Food and Wine someday!
