I am looking at flying on SW but when I was reading their website it says I can't check in online if I am traveling with children (I have 2) or a senior (I have 1) unless they are age verified

I was wondering if anyone knows what that means?

Does my Infant need a Boarding Pass?

If you choose to purchase a seat so that your infant may travel in his or her CRD you will need to obtain a boarding pass for the infant. You may use online checkin if your infant has been age verified. If your infant has not been age verified, you will not be able to use online checkin.

If you choose to travel with your infant on your lap (at no additional charge) the infant will not need a boarding pass; however, you will need to obtain a Boarding Verification Document (BVD) for the infant. The BVD will allow the infant to board the aircraft. BVDs are available at the Southwest Airlines Ticket Counter on the day of travel. In order to complete your BVD, the Customer Service Agent will need to verify that your infant has not reached his or her second birthday, so be sure to bring along a copy of your baby’s birth certificate.



it would seem that you/others could online checkin, but the child could not do online checkin if seat has been purchased for them unless they have been age verified....


of course, my interpretation could be wrong....

If they're traveling on special senior or children fares, they need proof of age/eligibility.

Relax. Those special fares are virtually never cheaper than the "Wanna Get Away" fares!

so when I book the wanna get away fares do i book them all as adults or do I put in child and senior?

Whatever you want Buying a Wanna Get Away fare for a 77 year old passenger is still a Wanna Get Away fare, no proof of age needed; ditto for a seven year old. If you were purchasing something called a senior fare, you would need to prove the senior's age at the airport.

Everyone over 2 is considered an adult.

AND you would have to call and ask for the fare because it isn't available online. (same with child fares)

You can buy a Senior Fare online. But like kaytieeldr said it's usually more than the Wanna Get away Fare.

It's been a while since I had to worry about kids, but I just put my "senior" husband as a regular adult. The few times I've tried for a "senior" fare it was higher than the regular Wanna Get Away fare, as others have reported.
