Age Restrictions on Rides

I grabbed a FP and was really excited to take my 2 (she'll be one month shy of 3) year old on Barnstormer for her first roller coaster. She's only 36" so, it's the only coaster that's she tall enough to ride. While checking the height requirements today, I saw that some of the rides have age restrictions as well. Is this something that they ask when you get in line or is there a chance that she'll be able to ride? I'm guessing I'll have to drop the FP since I do not have one for her anyway.

The only age restriction I'm aware of is that a child has to be at least 7 to ride alone.

Because your daughter is under 3, she doesn't need a FP to ride anything. She just needs to be with an adult who has a valid FP. So, you don't need to cancel your FP.

No age restrictions for rides just height. I imagine some other websites might put an age on instead of height for some crazy reason - maybe for "maturity" reasons such as a three year old could "handle it" to help parents plan.

There isn't an age restriction for any of the rides. I kind of remember a sign outside of Stitch's Great Escape recommending that kids under a certain age not ride, but event that is just a recommendation.

That link provided says this -

Age Restrictions:

  • "Space Mountain" at least age 3
  • "Big Thunder Mountain" at least age 3
  • "The Barnstormer" at least age 3
VERY misleading.

In 2012 I took my youngest daughter (one month shy of her 3rd birthday) on Barnstormer and no one said anything to me about her not being able to ride.

I'll echo everyone's sentiment, there is no age restriction only height restrictions. Got an amazingly tall 2 year old? If they are over the bar they can ride. You do have to be 7 to ride alone and 3 and over require a ticket and fast passes.

Now, of course, you should consider the emotional/maturity level of the child for certain rides, but that applies to even those without height restrictions. The Haunted Mansion has no height restrictions, but can still be scary to young ones. As a matter of policy though, they can ride.

I was once in line for Mission: SPACE with a young girl who was getting scared during the briefing. Her mother told me she was only 4, she looked about 8! It's understandable that a child that young might not want to ride.

FWIW - YEARS ago, we took my niece for her third birthday and there was the occasional attraction that had an age requirement instead of a height one. I specifically remember that to be the case for Star Tours. She was a very petite child and there is no way she was over 40". She'll be 21 next month, so we are talking 18 years ago.

And, what a ridiculous assortment of rides that site has put as the ones that have age requirements! According to the site, there is no age requirement for Expedition Everest or Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, but there is for Barnstormer. They also have Body Wars (closed in 2007!) as well as Maelstrom on the list.:joker:OP - I would stay far away from this site!

Just went in Oct 2014-rode barnstormer probably 10 times with our son who wasn't quite 3-several of those times used fast pass and CM knew he was under 3 b/c he didn't have a ticket/FP
Also rode 7DMT 2 times with FP no prob there either-he is really tall for his age :)

Same here- my grandson just turned 3 in February. Last August he rode barnstormer at least half a dozen times and by October was tall enough to ride SDMT. No one questioned his age. This trip he's tall enough to ride TOT and several others that age wise he's just not ready for- We'll be swapping those!
