(Age related) Children's Park Hopper Question

When we go to WDW, we buy a 5 day park hopper and it lasts 2 trips. We usually go ever 2 years. I am about to buy our tix for next summer. Our daughter will be 9 next summer, and therefore, the next time we would go after that, she will be 11 years old. Can she still use the days left on her kids park hopper, even though she will be an adult (according to WDW), or will I have to upgrade to an adult tix at that time?

Your daughter will be able to use the remaining days on the child's hopper even when she is no longer 9. On the second trip, just take the child's ticket to one of the guest services window and explain that your daughter is now 11 (or whatever age she happens to be). GS will convert the child's hopper ticket to an adult hopper ticket with the same number of unused days. No need to worry.

You're welcome. Forgot to mention that there is no additional charge to convert the child's ticket to an adult ticket.

For those who may be interested, here's a link to FAQ on WDW tickets that has general info as well as info on converting tickets and upgrading tickets:

Can this be done for hoppers with just the plus options left on them?

Also this may be a silly question but if there is no charge for converting a Childs ticket to an Adult one, what is to prevent someone from buying a cheaper Childs hopper & just saying your child has grown since it was purchased?

Since the plus options never expire, I would assume that tickets with just the plus options left would also be converted for no additional charge. I don't know that for sure from experience, though.

Most people are honest and would not do what you suggest. IMHO, this would be harder to do than it sounds. First of all, I doubt Disney would convert an unused ticket. (They'd probably just give the person a credit that could be applied to the purchase of an adult ticket or a new child's ticket of some kind).

Disney's computer system knows when a ticket was first used. If you come along one or two or 10 years later to convert, they'd probably expect to see a 10 or 11 or 19 year old child standing next to you. JMHO. YMMV.

I wasn't suggesting anyone do this ..I have AP's but do have some old hopper's laying around that I thought my sister could use for her 10 yo DD.

I was really just wondering how WDW could pass up an opportunity to make more $ on an "upgraded" adult ticket... It's not they are known for giving anything away for free!

Still lovin' the magic!!

Sorry if my post offended - that wasn't my intent. I should have been more careful with my wording.

Since Disney advertises that the unused portion of their hopper tickets never expire, they pretty much have to convert children's tickets to adult tickets without charge. After all, the bean counters surely know that children get older:)

No problem... I didn't take it that way but I didn't want any one else to think that was my intent ! I know how easily things can get out of hand, there are some issues I won't even read let alone get involved with - one word - mugs!
