:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I took my dd5 to Disney World last March, she enjoyed the trip but got very tired and just not as interested in the parks as I hoped she would be. I am planning another trip in Aug. 06 she will be 7, do you think she will enjoy the parks more this time or should I wait to go in another year or two when she is older? One of the reasons she may have gotten tired easily is because the parks were extremely busy it was a two hour wait on most of the rides in MK and any park when we were there on our spring break last year. I know I enjoyed the parks more that she did even though I did not see alot of Ebcot which is the one park I cant wait to go through slowly. :Pinkbounc

I think every age has something special /magicical about it and I think 7 is a great age to go! I'd be afraid to wait too long because I know my teenage nieces and nephews lost interest in Disney. :(

It might just have been how crowded it was and if that was your/her first trip, then this time you'll know what to expect and can plan things out better and not wait in as many lines. It will be HOT though but you can still have a great time.

Does she like the characters? I'd plan a couple of character meals to make it more special.

Good luck deciding.

We took our son for the first time when he was 7. It was a week at the end of September. While there were a few times later at night that my DH ended up carrying DS off the bus and to our room, we all had a great time. DS was old enough (and young enough) to ride everything from Dumbo to Space Mountain. I loved seeing the sense of wonder in his eyes as he took in everything, even much of Epcot. I think 7 is a great age for kids to go.

You waited in lines for two hours at a time? :earseek: You need to spend more time here on the DIS before you go back! You'll learn to get to the parks early, use Fastpass as much as possible, and plan your days according to EMH, etc. Once you've got it down, then take your family back - they'll be amazed at the difference a lot of planning can do!

Yes, you need to read up on how to get the most out of your visit. Become an expert on things like Extra Magic Hours' in staying onsite; Fast Pass for everyone; making advanced dining reservations. and in general, PLAN, PLAN, PLAN! In August, the closer to Labor Day, without that exact weekend, is better. A lot of southern school districts start mid-August, so the crowds go down. Personally, we used to pull the kids out of school when they were the age of your DD. Then, we went in December, January or February. That's when the rates were low, so were the crowds. If you "hook" them early, kids may develop a life long love of Disney.

I dont mind pulling my daughter out of school, but I am a teacher and know that my daughter gets very sick in the fall and I have to use those days for when she has to be out of school because of her asthma. Summer is the best time to go for us, but all of you are right about planning better, I need to do that better.

How well does she do with the heat? August is hot. I know my son would be a grouch (and dh, too!). Does she talk about her prior trip? How excited does she sound? Is she into Disney stuff like movies, etc? That may help.

I agree! I cannot imagine spending thousands on a vacation and spending the majority of it standing in line!! We took dd the first time when she was 10, and this past time when she was 13. She loved it both times. But, I don't think she would have if she had to stand in line for two hours.
