Age question regarding kids.

Hello all,

I have an age question about my three year old...NOT trying to get into the parks and avoid payment for my daughter, don't worry!

I'm ready to book a stay at the Vero Beach resort next month for my birthday/5th wedding anniversary. I want to do a night out alone with the hubs for a few hours...The only problem is, my daughter is still three years old and the age requirement for nightly childcare is supposedly four and up. My daughter's a smaller child in stature, but she is fully potty trained and communicates extremely well. She's not intimidated by older kids in the slightest and she'd jump right in to participate in whatever activities they have. By that time, she'll be halfway to 4 years old. I don't want to lie about her age, but my husband and I DESPERATELY need a night out alone. Frankly, we've had MAYBE 5 or 6 nights out alone since she came home from the hospital.

Will they even bother to ask or do I need to show proof? Help? Suggestions? PLEASE?

Thank you!

I just read on the DISboards last week that someone said one of the Disney World resorts let their child stay at age 3, because she was fully potty trained. In that instance, the guest was upfront about it and received permission from the staff.

There is no way to know for sure that it would happen at Vero Beach (or even happen at Disney World again), but I would definitely give it a try. Perhaps you should choose activities that could be cancelled in case they say no. Or call in advance and ask for permission, then you will know for sure.

Good luck and welcome to the DISboards!

Thank you for your reply and welcome!

I just called the actual resort. The person I spoke with said that she could join a supervised activity. She specified that it wasn't babysitting, but an activity and the schedules are week to week, so I can't sign her up ahead of time. I think she'd do okay with that set up, like I said she's potty trained, not shy at all, and she attends daycare. I'm not sure if I trust Kids Nite Out, otherwise I'd go with that program. I'm going to book it and if we get to have a lunch/dinner date, then GREAT. We can always pop a bottle, order a pizza, and sit in the jacuzzi after she's asleep, right? :)

If the plan you're thinking of should fall apart I know there are people who will come to your room and baby sit. The service is called Kid's Night out.

Here is a Dis Boards Link with more info about all of your options:

Good luck and have a great date night! :thumbsup2

1) The resort has a list of three in-room sitters.
2) They are all approved by Disney.
3) In some cases, they will even take them to a park or pool.
. . . depends upon the sitting service
. . . depends upon the individual sitter
4) There is no age or potty-training requirement.
