Our 18 yr old daughter will be using our points to stay at two DVC resorts this year with some of her friends. (all 18). Is there going to be a problem at check-in / check-out with her age? Would a parent need to be there?
:cool1: Thanks

Great question! (I've been on these boards for a while, and I have NOT seen this question asked).

I would assume 18 would be the minimum age.

Thanks for the info. Another question, would she get all the benifits (member discounts etc.) since she is the daughter of a member, or would I (the official member) need to be present to show my member card if asked? Could she use my card (it has only my name on it - same last name, she lives at home etc.)? :cool1:

most of the discounts she should get.

the only ones that might be problem is the free valet parking at the DVC resorts. I don't know if she even wants this one....

her resort ID will say DVC member.

now if you are talking about the discount on the annual pass - I think you need to be there - so you can show proof that she is living with you. but I would call MS first - she might just need to show a copy of your driving license and hers.

Thanks. She would just need the restaurant, water sports, & shopping type discounts. Not much (?10-15%?) but helpful on her budget. Hope she won't have any problems.

Thanks again :cool1:

Next June, my 18 year old daughter and 3 of her friends will be going to Disney using my points as a HS graduation gift. I completely trust her and her friends. Her friends have never been to Disney. Imagine that. She's excited to show them all things Disney.

I subscribe to the theory that she has never given me any trouble and she'll be on her own living in a dorm a couple months later. She's been friends wiht the same girls forever and they are all great. What better place to get used to living on your own than Disney where they'll have no car.

If you want to make your life easy and she is a responsible adult, you can place her name as a member on your deed(s). This will certainly allow her all the privileges that you or any member has, including paying the dues!

tell her to take the guide that she gets at the front desk.

I had to use it at MacDonald to get the 20% off. they told me first it did not apply to them. So I had to show them in the guide where it did - they are the only MacDonald in DD.....

at some of the places you must ask for it - they won't apply it just because she is entitled.

Well, my 18 yr old daughter just decided to add another person (now a total of 4) to her reservation. It is a 17yr old cousin (girl) of one of the other girls coming down. Any problem with a 17 yr old with the three 18yr olds (legal wise)?

Thanks again :cool1:
