Age for vaccine

Hello, I previously booked a cruise the day after my daughter turns 6 months.

Is a vaccine a requirement now that they make vaccines (vaccine eligible) for her?

The Disney website is unclear on this. It states “all vaccine eligible” in one sentence and says “all guests 4 and under who are not vaccine eligible” in the next sentence.

Any one know?

The approval of that vaccine is far too new for DCL to have issued guidance on that yet. If they follow previous protocol, they'll allow a phase in period where you can either have your kid vaccinated or go through the unvaccinated kid protocol for a period of time. In your case, where there isn't time for your child to get fully vaccinated by the time they cruise because they hit the age threshold so close to your cruise, they'll just follow the unvaccinated protocol, whatever that ends up being after all but the very youngest are eligible for vaccinations.

In short, we don't know yet, but I'm sure DCL will issue guidance very soon.

As of now, only passengers 5 and older are required to be vaccinated. It is possible that Disney Cruise Line will add a requirement for passengers 6 months to 5 years, but they have not yet done so.

People with children turning 5 right before a cruise who would not have time to be fully vaccinated have reported being able to sail under the “under 5 requires pre-cruise testing” protocols. You would need to look into this if new requirements are added.

The vaccine for Under 5 is not as readily available as it was for the 5-12 age group. I imagine that will factor in to their decision making regarding making a mandate.

At this time, there is no requirement for your daughter to be vaccinated. However that may depend on when is your cruise? If your cruise is coming this summer, unlikely to be impacted. If you have a cruise scheduled for later in the fall - I'd keep an eye on things.

IF the vaccine is required for little ones, and IF she hits 6-months less than X weeks from your cruise - I expect she can still board using the current "unvaccinated" rules which is a PCR/NAAT test 3 days prior to embarkation plus a test at embarkation. So how close your cruise is to when she hits the 6-month mark may be important.

Does anyone know how many Pzifer shots is considered for 'fully vaccinated' for 5-12 yr olds by DCL?
Here in Canada is 2 shots (boosters have not been approved for this age group), but don't know if DCL might have other standards.

I just answered on your other thread:
DCL uses the CDC definition and considers "full vaccinated" as 14 days after receiving:
  • A single dose of an accepted 1-dose vaccine
  • The second dose of an accepted 2-dose vaccine
  • The full series of an active (not placebo) COVID-19 vaccine in the US-based AstraZeneca or Novavax COVID-19 vaccine trials
  • The second dose of any “mix and match” combination of accepted COVID-19 vaccines (administered at least 17 days apart)
So that's 2 Pfizer doses for ages 5-12, plus 2 weeks. No booster required.

Anyone sailing less than 13 weeks from now are safe as it will take 13 weeks for 6months -4yo to be considered fully vaccinated. But seeing that DCL hasn't changed the policy yet that adds times.

13 weeks for Pfizer, 6 weeks for Moderna. But Pfizer seems to be the one most available.

I think it’s just 2 doses of Pfizer to be considered fully vaccinated and boosters are not required at this time.
