What is a good age for kids to start learning how to snow ski?

Thanks! :)

3. If they like it. If not, try again the following year. I have seen excellent 6yr olds. It really depends on what you are most comfortable with. The boots are really expensive the younger they start as they keep changing in size. Good Luck!

Thanks! :) I thought maybe 3 since a lot of activities, like dance, start at that age.

We might start looking into this next year with DD. I never learned how to ski, but DH knows how. Some day I will learn. Your never too old right? ;) :p

If you are pretty active, should be a lot of fun. Seems we have been following each other around today! :)

Lewski is right the age to start is 3. Start them as young as possible. Young kids have no fear! Jenn you should learn at the same time so you can ski as a family. It's a blast (but $$)

I would love to learn next year, but I might have a baby next winter (if things work out.) If not then I will definitely learn with DD. :) I definitely want to learn! I think it would be a great family activity. :)

our son was 3 or 4 and man he took to it really well....I would recommend lessons from an instructor though...I'll never forget at the top of a hill hearing a child say to his father I hate you for bringing me here!....I felt so bad for the kid!...

I have children as young as 18 months on skis in Europe. JUst barely walking and they are skiing already.

Thanks MAC3...I love it when people say I am right. This may be a first on the Dis boards.....how sad is that? <a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/382.gif' border=0></a>

DD and DH love the snow and cold. I prefer to be by a nice warm fire! LOL! But I will learn becasue it is something I always wanted to do.

Are you stalking me? ;) :p :D

Can you rent equipment for a child? Or is it better to have your own?

I think the Ski resorts around here tell you they need to be 4 for SkiWee... we always rent equipment.. much less expensive than buying every year..
