2 Questions:

DD is 2 1/2 and I am wondering is she is old enough to start trying board games (candyland, etc.)? What age did your kids start these?

We will be at WDW next month and I have heard at once upon a toy (DTD)they have cool WDW games like the HM CLue. Any unique games age appropriate for my DD? I like to plan purchases in advance so I have money on hand. Also plan on doing my Christmas shopping.

You could try it but she may be to young yet. I didn't try until mine were 3 and it was still a challenge because they just want to play it the way they want and it gets hard to get them to do it the right way. Also resist the urge to let you daughter win all the time, because you want them to learn they can't always win and how to do it graciously. I'd let them win sometimes
but not all the time. As for Disney games, I have Pooh Candyland, a kids version of Mickey Yahtzee, Princess Monopoly geared towards younger children and much easier then the normal version. I know you can get Pretty Princess in a Disney Princess version, regular Monopoly in Mickey at least, and of course you can find the simple childrens card games like Go Fish, Old Maid, Crazy 8's etc in Princess form. I have seen almost all of these at Target and I know they have the card games in a set. While you are at DTD check out the toy store there, I am sure they have all kinds of games there that I don't remember or that they don't generally sell in the usual places. Have fun trying the games but don't be to disappointed if the attention span isn't the greatest or she just doesn't get it. She will eventually and it's a great way to spend time together as a family.

ds4 1/2 was 2 1/2 when we started with candyland. but ds2 1/2 is really not ready for it yet:confused3 He loves the idea of all sitting down to play a game but just can not follow along, but he has fun anyway:)

You could try a team game. She and daddy VS mommy. She can start to learn the basic set up with out getting flustrated . Cany Land is easy as is chutes and ladders. i would avoid games with a lot of set up for a while. Young children want to play right away.

My DD was playing Lucky Ducks when she was 2 1/2.
(I think that's the name...it's got about 10 yellow ducks that go quacking around a pond in a circle).

I would give it a try.
I do remember that when my girlfriend & her DD (just 10 days younger than my DD) came over one day for a playdate, my DD wanted to play Lucky Ducks & my friend's DD just didn't get it....all she wanted to do was pick up the ducks & carry them around my house.

I think the potato head pieces or my little pony pieces may be more fun. She can actually create something w/the potato head, but all the little pieces and cards to games get lost so easily. You can buy a potato seperately and then stuff a box full of fun, Disney specialized potato pieces for $19. The same for the ponies -- you can stuff a box w/pony accessories like clothes, beds, skateboards, etc. For some reason, we have lost the pieces to every game, but have a nice potato collection!
