Agave Experience at La Cava Del Tequila

Has anyone tried this yet? A tequila tasting at La Cava.

Yes. We tried it February. It was really good. They hold it in the area where there used to be tables across from the bar. They block off access to that area. My husband and I were the only 2 in the tasting. The tasting before us had 8. They started us off with a margarita, then we tasted 5 tequilas and 1 mezcal. One of the tequilas is bottled only for La Cava. Hilda, the tequila ambassador is great! She tells us about how tequila is made, her experiences in the industry, and answers any questions. They brought out chips and guac during the tasting. At the end, you get another margarita. It was so good that......my husband made another reservation in June for our son's 21st birthday trip for the 8 of us in our family. I will see if I can post some pictures.

I wanted to book in February but we were only a party of three ... and per the reply we received below they were (at least at the time) only booking parties of 4-6. This was a few months ago so the details may have evolved. It sounds amazing to me and is still on my wish list! I noticed they had a sandwich board sign outside La Cava last week advertising the experience but didn't pay much attention as my party that visit wouldn't have been interested in it.

Email from February:

Come enjoy an Agave Experience at La Cava del tequila where one of our certified Tequila Ambassadors will help enhance and broaden your agave spirits knowledge.

Each guest participating will be tasting rare and unique agave expressions; some exclusive to our bar or to this experience and not available anywhere else in the world.

This experience is for adults 21 and older and will last 45 minutes with a cost of $100 ++ per person with a minimum of 4 guests and a maximum of 6 per tasting.

Reservations can be made by sending an email to lacava@palmasrestaurants.com

We are currently making reservations 60 days in advance.

Please let us know if you would be interested on this so that we can help you out with a reservation.

If you ask via email they will quote you the $150 price tag for a party of 2 or 3.

My adult daughter is not a tequila drinker but she loved it as well. These are not mixing tequilas you would ever put in a margarita. They are expensive sipping tequilas with interesting notes of various flavors... And don’t forget the dried ants and baked crickets included in the price tag!

Given the selection they list, that price seems like a deal. I paid $50 or $70 for Herradura Seleccion Suprema (I also tried the Guillermo del Toro; not sure which was $50 and which was $70), and about $35 for the Santanera Extra Anejo. Based on the price I pay for a bottle of the Casa Dragones Joven, I'd expect it to be about $50, as well.

i can tell you 5 of us enjoyed this experience a week ago and it was $100/person for a group of 4 or more... Maybe the price has gone up?
