Of course there is no way I'm buying the storage closet from AG but I looked at the one from Target and started wondering what else there is out there. DD got a Just Like Me for her birthday last week and is getting Nikki and Julie for Christmas plus quite a few outfits. I need something to store just this stuff to keep it "special".... any ideas?

DD has a few dolls and has a TON of accessories. One of our first years we got her a doll armoire (from ebay for about $30) well, after 6 months we out grew this. right now we hvae a few storage systems. i found an old fashion wooden tool chest at lowes (about 3 years ago) for $40. Dd uses this for her smaller acessories (doll books, food, etc) we have a plastic tupperware container with a handle which hold hers outfits and another which holds the doll shoes.

honestly, i tried for years to get 1 nice wooden storage unit but there are just too many accessories, shoes, outfits, etc to fit nicely or neatly in one. so i gave up and just focused on not losing anything.

i found that i cared more about where/how stuff was stored that she did. she just wanted to be able to get to things easily.

plsu room is always at a premium. where does AG think i am keeping all of these big items?

I bought the decorative hat boxes at Hobby Lobby in different sizes and we stack those in her room. In the large one is clothes, middle one is shoes and the small one is accessories and hair brush. They match her room colors and look cute sitting in the corner ;)

DD has a bookcase that I bought a curtain tension rod and put in one of the shelves. She hangs her doll's clothes on it, and all the accessories are in a little pink rubbermaid-type box on the floor next to it.

I would have never thought about a tension rod! That is an awesome idea, THANKS! I'm going to see if I can figure something out using that idea!

This is what I've done as well. Then we have one of the smaller purple 3 drawer Serlite organizers in the sm or med size for the shoes and accessories. She also has a little wooden 2 drawer jewlery type box that came with a set she got for her birthday that she uses for the doll jewelry. She really doesn't have a lot of stuff so all of this including the tension rod is on one bookshelf. She's getting the armoire from Target for Christmas. It's wrapped now so I'm not 100% sure how things are going to go, but until her collection expands (3 sets of grandparents ) it will work. Looks like clothes on the rod, shoes in the bottom drawer and we'll probably get some small boxes to decorate and put on the shelves for the accessories. I'm thinking I should have boughta second one for the younger two since they're getting Bitty Twins for Christmas.

This is the drawer thing - but in the store you can buy only one at a time, I think it's around $6? http://www.target.com/Sterilite-3-D...ginal-keywords=sterlite&rh=k:sterilite&page=1

DD has her AG clothes on a rod in her closet. We have regular sized plastic hangers with clothespins on them in a few spots and we hang the AG clothes inbetween the clothespins. We have all the shoes and accessories and misc clothes and items in a 7 drawer rubbermaid style drawer/cart under the hanging clothes. This has been working pretty well for us. I like the bookcase/tension rod idea! :thumbsup2

AC Moore had a really nice doll trunk for 19.99 last week.

My dd is getting her first AG for xmas. Her aunt bought her the doll truck and made her hangers for it. I saw it today and its a decent size trunk.

I love the idea of the tension rod on the shelves. Since I have 2 toddlers hers will be safer in a trunk lol.

I bought doll trunks at Michaels crafts.

They are real wood, hahogany I think.

One side holds the doll, the other side has a rod for hanging clothes and 2 drawers. I hope to get one for each doll to keep them in some sort of order. Kinda like a home for each doll.

Target's GG are hot on the AG tail suppling the similar items Target's prices are going up. A few years ago, I got a GG canopy bed for less than $25.

The good ole days.

Glad I could help. DD loves it. It keeps all the clothes out where she can see them. I got it at Target for $3.99, way cheaper than buying the armoire.

I have some wooden "hope chest" like boxes I bought a few years ago from a craft mall. They are great because they look like furniture, hold everything inside, and make a nice seating bench for the dolls when not in use.princess:

I have one of the trunks from AC Moore's for my doll. (Yes I have my own AG doll - I feel justified as my mom and SIL had their own first.:) ). I added another rod to it, so it's just right for the few things I have.

My brother built a mini-closet for all the stuff that my 2 nieces and SIL were begining to amass. It's beautiful - he even painted it in AG colors and decorated it with the star theme. It's just gorgeous. I think he missed his true calling. He ended up building it himself since he couldn't find anything in stores to really suit the purpose of holding all that stuff.

I got DD the one at AC Moore last week. It's really cute and for $20, definately the right price!

Target has their knockoff on clearance right now. I think it was $35. I bought the melissa and doug wooden armoire last year and its been perfect.

I tried locating this on Target's website but could not find it. Do you have a link to it?

I bought a white wooden doll trunk on clearance for $10 at Target a few years ago. It has the little drawers and a closet bar for the dresses. The other outfits that we can't fit on the bar go in gallon-sized ziplock bags so that all of the pieces stay together and then they go in the trunk. It looks kind of like this one, but doesn't have the mirror and only 2 doors. I think DD's has more storage room than this one, but it's the same brand:

DD11 got this for Christmas and it is VERY nice. Her best friend has the one from AG and she and her mom both agreed that this one was better! It may not last as long but for the price it was a good deal.

DD has 4 large Pottery Barn Kids baskets under her bed. She has one for Bitty Baby's clothes and things (plus she has BB's suitcase stuffed as well), and the 3 other baskets are for her other AG dolls' clothes and accessories. However, Santa just brought Julie so I think we'll need another basket. The liners in the baskets match DD's bedding, curtains, etc. and the baskets hide all of the other "stuff" under the bed, so it works really well for us.
