I am going for the first time this saturday afternoon but I have a few questions....

Can you share tea pots? The allears menu says "per guest" so I wasn't clear on it.

Can you share any of the tea services??

Thanks in advance DIS, you never let me down!

1) I have seen people share a "tea service"
. . . scones
. . . sandwiches
. . . sweets
2) I have not seen people share a tea pot.
. . . pots don't not hold that much fluid
. . . pots of tea are not that expensive
3) I would suggest
. . . one person buy a "service" with a pot of tea
. . . one person buy a different pot of tea

You could definitely share a tea service, you do get a pretty good amount of food. I am not sure if they would give you a second tea pot to share a pot but if each got their own they could share to have different flavors.

Fainting...

My cousin, her daughter, and my aunt and I went to tea in September. We went a la carte, with one treat and an order of tea each (the 4 year old had the Mrs Pott's tea "package").

The Mrs Potts came in the smallest pot, and gave the 4 year old something like 3 or 4 cups of chocolate milk.

Mine was the middle sized pot, and it probably gave me 6 (maybe 5) cups of tea.

Aunt and cousin ordered the same type of tea, so they were given a very large teapot.

All pots would have been "refilled" with new tea, if we'd needed it, the server said. As it was, we were absolutely sloshing inside by the time we left.

I do not KNOW if they would let you share a teapot without paying for a second person, but if they did, that normal teapot (my teapot) would have been more than enough for 2 normal tea-drinking people.

I wish I'd gotten a more straight-on view, with something in there for scale, but without a child that's not mine (I don't have permission to post her picture) because my teapot was big, and the biggest one seemed enormous!

Oh here's one with the cup. The cover adds some height, but not that much!

Went in July. DD and I wanted to share a pot of tea. We were not allowed. We were ordering off the ala-carte menu.

We ended up ordering her hot chocolate (in a pot also), and she had a cup, rinsed, and then had some of my tea.

I wish they would change it or just add a service charge to share, but we got a definite - NO.

We went in Jan. and seemed the pots were smaller than I remember, but I love tea and had no problem finishing it. They did add more water too since it was getting rather strong and bitter at the bottom.
This is the first time they didn't use the tea cozies :(

Depends on what food you order.
I just did strawberries and cream (to die for), but others got the one with the sandwiches.

Agree with everyone else......one tea, you can share food if you want or order smaller things to try out.

Thank you everyone for all the awesome feedback & pics too!

I'm pretty sure there are several types of tea we all want so I think getting our own pots will work and we will prob get some ala carte stuff to share.

We go tomorrow so I am so excited! Thanks again!!!

When I took tea there a few years ago, I had tea and my little great niece had "sprite" tea. She didn't want any of the sandwiches that were offered so they made her just plain jam sandwiches:) She was delighted. Also, she didn't want any of the choices for dessert, so, they gave her a dish of fresh strawberries with cream and she loved it:) I can't wait to take my 5 year old DGD in August..

They did add more water too since it was getting rather strong and bitter at the bottom.

Tea leaves left in the pot longer than 5 minutes will cause the bitterness in tea to come out. Adding more water will make the tea weaker, but won't remove the bitterness. To solve this problem, we ask them to decant the tea, meaning to let it sit 3 minutes (3-5 minutes is usual) and then pouring the tea into another pot, leaving out the tea leaves, and then bringing it to us. They have always done this for us. Then your tea can sit as long as you need, and it will never get bitter or too strong. If they forgot to bring me a tea cozy, I would ask for one, as I don't like lukewarm tea, either!

I hope you enjoyed your tea! It's a favorite part of our trips :goodvibes. DH and I always order our own tea and then share the tea sandwiches.

we had a GREAT time! I had the mad hatter tea and it was delicious! I had tea sandwiches and there were a few cheese plates had, a gentleman's tea platter , a trifle & scones had by the rest of the table. We basically had one of a lot of the a la carte menu. It was all yummy!!!!

Thanks everyone for the help!
