Afternoon Tea Questions

I have some questions about the tea...

First, how many pots of tea do you get? One per person or one per table? Nic and I want different kinds of tea, and we'll be getting the Buckingham Palace Tea, so we were hoping to be allowed to get different kinds.

Second, can you switch out the sandwiches? Like, Nic doesn't eat eggs, so could he switch it for, say, another chicken salad?

Third, anyone go there who has a review they'd like to share?

Usually, if you do one order of a set tea (Buckingham Palace, Prince Edward's, Grand tea), you get one tea choice. But I'm sure you can talk with the CM, and you can add another pot, probably for an upcharge. When we get the Buckingham Palace, we have one tea choice, but they do refill the pot with water if you run out.

You can definitely switch out sandwiches - we've exchanged egg salad for an extra chicken.

We love the GF tea, we try to make it there every trip. Sometimes, it's hard to get a reservation!

Alright, cool. Thanks for your help!:goodvibes

Another question- I'm assuming a reservation there is the same as any other restaurant, right?

Actually, everytime we get the Buckingham or Grand Tea, EACH person gets to pick out their own tea and you each get a pot. We always order different teas and share each others. Yes, you can change out sandwiches.

Really? You mean, you order one order, split between two people, and they allow you to have two different teas? We've done this, but we had to choose one tea. They bring two cups, but there is the one pot. If we each get our own order - for instance, we both get the Buckingham, or I get the Buckingham, DD gets the Sally Lunn, then we get more than one tea choice.

I'll have to keep this in mind for our next visit. Thanks!

Right, but I mean I'd get it the same way- 180 days out (assuming the system is back to 180 days by February) calling the dining line?

I can't answer about the 180-day thing, because I never book that far out. But, yes, you do call the dining line and book it just like any other ADR. You ask for the Garden View Lounge - sometimes, I forget and just say the Grand Floridian tea, and the cast member doesn't find it on their list!

Yes, we always each order our own "tea" package off the menu. We usually get the same one though. Lately, since my daughter is over 21 we get the Grand Tea with the Sparkling Wine. It never occurred to me to share. We love doing the tea and when we have it later in the day it keeps us filled up long enough so not to need dinner and just get a light snack in the evening.

plutolovr - oh, OK, sorry for the confusion! Sometimes we share an order, sometimes we each get our own. It just depends on how hungry we are, how late our reservation is and whether we have a dinner reservation that we don't want to spoil! :cutie:

To help clarify what these folks are saying, if you are two people sharing a single order of, say, the Buckingham tea set then one tea selection is included. We've done this in the past and ordered an additional tea selection a la carte for about $6 when we didn't both want the same tea (I'm a diehard Mad Hatter girl, my usual travelmate likes that one too but my mom will demand Garden View).

If you are two people each ordering their own tea set, say two Buckinghams or one Buckingham and one Sally Lunn, or whatever - then you will have two selections included in your sets and can choose two different teas with no additional charge beyond the price of your two sets.

As for the number of pots... should you be able to drink your whole pot of tea and wish for more (something I've never accomplished but I suppose is possible) then I am sure they would have no problem bringing you another pot like the one you just finished.

HTH :thumbsup2

I've done the tea here three times now, twice it was magnificent, and the third time would have been too if the waitress hadn't been so completely distracted (kept forgetting us). We've done the Buckingham twice, and the Grand Tea once. All were great, we usually do it as a late lunch and then have a light late dinner. I have often switched out sandwiches as I have food allergies, and this has never been a problem. Their scones here are some of the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go again in Sept 2009 when we make the next girl's trip.
