My wife is considering going to the GF for the afternoon tea during our next trip. Does anyone that has done this have any comments about it? Would you recommend it? What times do they offer it? How much does it cost?
We went last year, but they did not have set times then, you could go any time between 2 and 4:30. We had the grand tea, which we had as our late lunch. It was delicious and very filling. We enjoyed the whole experience.
We just got back from our honeymoon and we LOVED Afternoon Tea. We did it after massages at the GF Spa.
I had made PS for 2pm, when they "open." It was definitely helpful, but it was not busy. That sat those with PSs first then they seated walkins.
And we did not have to pay ahead.
Everything can be done a la carte, but we went the route of the pre-set teas. We actually did the "Tea for Two" which included scones, jam tarts, two different kinds of tea, and pastries and was $35. We also added the fruit and cheese plate which I would highly recommend as an addition!
You will really enjoy the GF afternoon tea. We had the tea for two & it was very filling as a lunch. We substituted one of the sandwich choices for ham & cheese (on the child's selections). We have tried several of the teas during our visits & really enjoy the black currant tea. You can also purchase tea from there which is a little expensive but a nice treat to share when you're back home for special occasions. I would definitely make a PS as it seems to be more popular each time we visit. The strawberries & cream are nice with pastries for just an afternoon treat with the tea. It's one of our favorite visits.

Tea for Two was filling. You get four little tea sandwiches, a scone, a jam tart, and a choice of two dessert things. However, my new DH is a big boy and we knew that wouldn't satisfy him. So we tacked on the fruit and cheese plate which was YUMMY. And the perfect addition for us. (And worked well because DH won't eat egg salad, one of the tea sandwiches and I didn't like one of the other three.)
