Hey all-

An amazing 45 days left until we are headed to the world. Our free dining ADRs have been set for a few months now. Of course, a member of our party decided this morning that he wanted to try out tea at the Grand Floridian.

Of course, the planner in me is not happy about this at all...haha!

So, my question is...are reservations available and/or required to attend?

If the are required, is it going to be useless to try to get one at this late date?

Thanks-

JWF

Yes, you will definitely need an ADR. Call ASAP to see if you can get one. This tea has become pretty popular in the last year or so.

Not sure if it's too late, but yes, ressies are probably needed. We have them for our upcoming November trip. I think they only serve 2-4pm, which is another reason to be sure you call now.

And it's not covered under the dining plan, but I'm sure you already know that, just thought I'd mention it just in case...

Good luck! I haven't been there myself so I can't tell you how good it is, but it looks like a fun mother-daughter-grandma event for us!

My dad has been given a "get out of tea free" card, to which he was MOST thankful!!! :rotfl2:

Does anyone know if there is a DDE discount for this? I see it on the DDE list, but I don't know if they serve other meals at this location. (I don't see any other menus)
I made a reservation for 1 this past Monday for Sept 3 and was able to get a 2:00 seating. I think many prefer a later seating?

1) There are no "meals" as such.
2) The menu items are typical tea "accompaniments".
3) They go a little beyond tea-and-crumpets, but not much.
4) Afternoon Tea is not meant to be a meal.

Thanks for the quick responses all.

This will actually be my second time around at the tea. I went a few years ago as a birthday present for my mom. I actually had a really good time. I made the mistake this weekend of telling one of the guys going on our upcoming trip about what I called "the Amazing Spinning Wheel of Cakes" they bring over to you for the tea. Now he is ALL about getting there.

So if you are there from September 6th through the 13th and see three male goofballs in the tea room looking (literally) like bulls in a china shop....say hello.

And while "tea" might not be considered a meal per se, I was surprised at how full I was from the Buckingham Palace tea after the sandwiches, scones, tarts and pastries from the "Amazing Spinning Wheel of Cakes." I can easily see it being a very nice late lunch.

Yes, you can use your DDE here (just don't forget like I did the first time :sad2: )

We'll be there Sept.1 - Labor Day :)

Well, I just called and got my reservation. Had my choice of any time on Friday the 12th. We'll be there at 2:10 pm staring at the Amazing Wheel of Cakes
