Just curious: what is your opinion of the "afternoon poolside entertainment"? Is it standard operating procedure at every DVC Resort?

My kids enjoy it, but truthfully it wears on me after a few days (ahem first day). I think it's mostly the noise factor. After spending a busy morning at the parks, we like to come back to the pool for some quiet time. Unfortunately, our pool time doesn't feel so restful and rejuvenating when they are blaring music, games, etc. Maybe I am just getting old and cranky in my 40's ;)

I'd suggest going to the quiet pool at the resort your staying at. While the term "quiet" is usually not the case, they are typically much more serene than the big pool. If you are look for rest and rejuvenation, that's what I'd do.

In response to your question, I think the pool activities are great. Hate to see Disney cut back on them.

We're two adults with no kids, but still found the BWV pool activites to be fun to listen to. Some of the trivia/games seemed cute. Really didn't mind. If we were trying to be more serene, though, we would've tried the quiet pool. But then we wouldn't have had the evil clown staring at us! :)

I don't mind the activities per se but I do mind the decibel level that they have everything. Even DH who doesn't hear particularly well feels that it's too loud and having gotten some hearing loss myself I'm much more conscience of sound levels.

And the problem is that not all resorts have quiet pools to go to so either your stuck with the cacophony of sound which I find to be uncomfortable or you have to skip the pool during afternoon hours. When we are at a resort with a quiet pool then that is where we go.

Either just having it every other day or some such schedule or not feeling the need for every area of the pool to be rocked by the whole occasion would be nice.

Excellent points! That's really what I was trying to say: it's not so much the activities that bother me, but the fact that they are so darn loud... :rolleyes1

I think the poolside "entertainment" is just plain awful. It is way too loud .. and the several times that I have experienced there were like 5-6 kids who were participating and about 100 people who were trying very hard to ignore it.

I cant believe that Disney thinks they need to add this ... it really kills the mood IMO .. like having a themed pool isnt already enough for kids (I have a 4 yo and a 2yo by the way)

I would PAY to have this eliminated ..

NO WAY!!!! I love the pool activities! At SSR this Summer we came back to the resort everyday specifically for the fun. My 8yr dd had the best time. I even joined in some of the games. It was seriously one of the highlights of our trip.

We love the pool entertainment. My kids may not participate in all he actitivies, but they love the ones they do. Obviously, the closer you sit to the activities, the louder it will be. Some pools areas are small (like BWV) and some are more expansive (like SSR). As some one mentioned, there is the options to go to a quiet pool.

Perhaps you could point me to the "quiet" pool at AKV Jambo?

I basically enjoy the pool parties, I just wish they could tone it down a bit. I use to think that BLT was really loud but compared to the new pool at Saratoga, BLT is a tea party.

I love the pool activities at Kidani. One of the things that helps me know I'm on vacation is music at the pool. I love the Disney trivia, and certainly am not bothered by hula hoop contests, or looking for diving rings. Next May when we're at Jambo, I plan on visiting Kidani specifically for the pool games -- and by some standards, I'm a senior (60 and counting!). :confused3

Do you mean loud in general because it's a big pool or the pool activities are broadcasted loudly?
