How are the mid-afternoon-closing crowds at AK on an EMH day? We're going to the world the last week of June. I'm debating on the AK for the magic hour or going in the afternoon to closing. Opinions?

On an EMH day you need to go in the mornings IMHO. I wouldn't get caught dead starting in the afternoon in an EMH park on an EMH day- especially the AK. The parade isn't until four, then most people leave. That doesn't leave a lot of time to do a whole lot because the AK usually closes early. The only time I would change this recommendation is on the rare day the park is open until eight. You didn't say when you are going, but as an example, that happens twice in June and not at all in July. They usually close at 6 PM. My 2 cents worth...

I agree. When we went, we were there at opening and did the following:

K Safari
Dinosaur twice back to back
Primeval Hurl (DD)
Kali RR
Flights of Wonder
Kali RR with Fastpass
Lunch at FlameTree
Maharashi Jungle Trek
Pangini Trails
Festival of the Lion King
It's Tough to be a Bug

By that time it was mid afternoon and hot as anything. We left so we could get to our 5:00 PS. I noticed when we left Pangini trails the line at the Safari was so long...around 1-1:30. I felt really sorry for those folks in the heat. We only waited about 8-10 minutes at 8:15 for our ride. I probably would have skipped it rather than wait that long.

Can't say it enough. Get to the parks early to get your money's worth. Especially if you don't live in Florida and your visits are few and far between.

Thanks for your replies..we've always been early risers at WDW. In fact, I don't think we've ever been to AK in the afternoon. We're going June 27-July 2 and so far the AK closes at 6:00. More than likely we'll only go to the parks 2, maybe 3, days. I like to build in a rest day when I can. For this trip, I'll stick with my original plan of attending EMH at the AK and then hopping to MGM or Epcot. By the way, what are the waits like for Mission Space? Do they have a singles line? My son and I have used it before for Test Track and still ended up in the same car.
