After work happy hours

What is a reasonable time to arrive home from an after work happy hour?

This is a loaded question..........are they still there? :)

My rule of thumb is "two and out"....... no more than 2 beers or an hour at the bar and then get the heck home to wife and kids........

I DID just spend all day at work with those jokers after all.......(I can strangle at least 8 of them in an hour.....and dispose of their bodies too and still bring home the bacon.) ;)

If this hypothetical person only goes to happy hour once in a great while, then maybe a couple of hours. If it's often, then 9:53 is called a night at the bar.

I wasnt even thinking that, you're good!:thumbsup2

I can't answer the question cause if he's going to happy hour so am I.:)

If he's going to happy hour without me, ain't nobody gonna be happy;).

agnes!

Random staying until whenever--be it one hour or seven--rarely will be received well. At the same time, staying seven hours shouldn't be a problem if the expectations are understood by all in advance.

Yep.

Like you said, he did just spend all day at work with those jokers.

Sorry to ask a loaded question...just feeling kind of sorry for myself tonight.

When we used to work nights- 7pm to 3am we would all go out every THursday night (that was our friday) at 3 and most of us would be gone by 6am. Now that we all work 8am-4pm if we go out we still leave by 6- but now its 6pm LOL.

I had a Boss once who made a big deal about after work Happy Hours....to the point where they became almost obligatory.......it got old......

Guilt him good when he gets home....... DW was a master of this strategy early in our marriage......

she sets the table for dinner and lights candles etc......then just leaves it there and then goes to bed....... :rotfl2: (yeah, she didn't actually cook anything but what did I know)?

Too funny! Thanks for the laugh. I needed that. You may have just saved his toothbrush. (I'm not making any promises, mind you! ;) At 11pm all bets are off.)

No, I knew he was going, so there was no cooking tonight.

Give him a little leeway for now. Ask him if he had a good time when he gets home...and let him enjoy himself away from you once in a while.

Then YOU go out after work with friends until 10 pm and leave him at home wondering what you're up to.

After that, maybe you can go do happy hour together.

LOL...I like the toothbrush idea :thumbsup2

I hope he comes home soon if he isn't already

It's after 11. Did Cindefella get home yet? Check and make sure he still has two shoes. :lmao:

With four little ones at home (one with a chronic illness), happy hours for me are definitely a thing of the past. We do try to go out together though...but not nearly often enough.

Yep, he's home. I was all in a tizzy because I had tried calling him and he did not answer his cell, so I did not think he was on his way home. (Phone was on vibrate, he was driving home, didn't hear it.)

In the past, his office parties have gotten a bit out of control, so my mind tends to go places it should not. He's truly a wonderful man, but doubts do creep in when I'm sitting here all alone for the second time in a week.

The toothbrush is safe.

Thanks for keeping me company, y'all!:thumbsup2

The rare occasions when I go out with the work folks I tend to stay out and enjoy. Last happy hour I made it home around 11:00 pm..got there around 5:30-6 ish. DH was fine with it since I don't go more than once or twice a year.

Tomorrow is dinner with an ex co-worker, I know this will be amuch earlier night..she is not a stay out type of person.
