a "bit" less enjoyable due to its smaller size and things to do ...

I know that the Wonder is due for dry dock renos this year so quite a few of the venues will be updated etc ... but any opinions on the differences between the cabins aboard the Wonder vs the Fantasy ...
  • are the bathrooms smaller?
  • is there an indoor-movie theatre like the Buena Vista on the Fantasy?
  • does the Wonder offer a scooter parking area similar to the one aboard the Fantasy?
  • are the range of adult activities offered similar as we will not be travelling with any children
  • are the cabins also scheduled for refurbishment during dry dock ...
Thanks for any info!

I think it depends on you...I actually prefer the Wonder to the Dream (only sailed Fantasy once). I enjoy the more intimate size, and I find the deck 11 cabanas area confusing when I take the wrong elevator (and this is after 8 or so cruises on the new ones...guess that's me :) ).

1) the bathrooms are the same size
2) yes there's an indoor theater running first run Disney movies
3) don't know about scooter parking, hopefully someone can let you know about that
4) yes there is a wide array of adult activies
5) ? reburb ? not sure if they are due?

I've only been on 2 cruises. One on the Dream and one on the Magic. I went on the Magic (after it had a refurb) after the Dream and I wish I would've done the Magic first because for me it did not compare to the Dream. I enjoyed the larger ship more, I felt there was more to do, the food was better, and the adult areas were better on the bigger ship, IMHO. The staff were incridible on both ships though. So to answer your question, it very well might be "less enjoyable" for you, it was for me a little but I still had a great time, just preferred the larger ship.

I have been on the Dream and the Wonder. I'm boarding the Fantasy on Saturday for the first time. Our second cruise was on the Wonder, and even though the Dream was bigger, I actually enjoyed the Wonder a lot. There were plenty of adult activities. The rooms were big enough. Every Disney ship has a movie theater on it.

I've only been on the Dream and the Magic but I can tell you that our family (it's unanimous) much prefers the smaller ship design and feel to the big. I, like you, had concerns about sailing on a smaller ship after being on a bigger one, but it was so much better! We loved the more intimate feel, we loved running into people we met earlier in the cruise. We liked seeing the same cast members and getting to know them better.

They have all the same stuff on the smaller ships as on the bigger ones so don't worry! It just feels more intimate. The only thing we missed was Midship Detective Agency, but as that's more of a kid activity anyway, I doubt you'll miss that.

We said on the Dream first then the Magic. The smaller size of the Magic is much more intimate, which we preferred. That being said, we'd still like to sail on the Fantasy and eventually the new ships coming in a few years.

The staterooms are more or less the same size, the adult sections have the same type of bars (just in the front of the ship instead of the rear), and they offer nearly all the same types of onboard actives.

i prefer the wonder to the dream (i've never been on the fantasy, but i assume it's basically the same).

while the dream did have some nice bells and whistles, i prefer the smaller wonder...
it's not that i prefer smaller ships necessarily - i love royal caribbeans gigantic allure of the seas..

but of the disney ships, i prefer the wonder to the dream..

as for your questions, they've been answered..

On the Wonder there is a scooter parking, charging area on deck 6 midship. We had an accessible cabin and charged our ECV in the cabin, but there
was room for 4 scooters at that charging station.

It's such a personal thing to say which ship is "better". We have sailed on all 4 ships multiple times, and prefer the larger ships because we enjoy the adult areas (dining, bars, the Rainforest Room and Satellite Falls) and our daughter prefers the larger kids clubs. That being said, we still sail on the the smaller ships when they are going somewhere we want to be and we still have a wonderful time. The only things I really miss are the larger/better Rainforest Room, Satellite Falls and Remy.

You will be disappointed. If you have kids they will be very disappointed.

You literally have no way of predicting this. My child is 7 and she prefers the smaller ships. As you can see above, many do and they aren't disappointed in the slightest.

Perhaps something more helpful would be to state your experience and opinions, followed by why you feel it to be so. Then let the OP make up their own mind.

Sounds like you value my opinion and want to hear more!! ;) while we can have a good time anywhere, there is significantly more to do on the larger ships. We never find ourselves "looking" for things to do on the dream or fantasy... unlike on the smaller ships. Our kids are absolutely not as excited about the smaller ships. They havr told us they would rather go to a theme park than the smaller ships. They love the large waterslide, golf, detective agency, superior kids clubs, etc. If you look at disney marketing almost all is on the larger ships. Obviously everything I write on here is my opinion!! I am sure there are folks with other opinions on this topic. That's a great thing!

I definitely prefer the Fantasy to the Wonder but it doesn't stop me from going on the Wonder again in October, 2017. With that in mind, our only time on the Wonder was after 3 cruises on Dream and Fantasy and it was a repo from Vancouver to San Diego and the weather the first 2 days on the ship was cold and windy so we were not able to spend any time out doors and that is where I really prefer to be on a cruise. I also do not like the layout of the pool deck of the Wonder compared to the the Fantasy. I think you'll only be disappointed if you go into thinking this isn't like on the Fantasy, that's not like the Fantasy. If you go into thinking it's going to be different, you will probably be fine. As someone stated earlier all of the cabins have already been remodeled so they have the current decor of the other 3 ships.

I've sailed the Magic and just got off the Dream on Friday. I think I actually prefer the smaller Magic to the Dream. I somehow felt "smaller" on the Dream and thought the smaller boat was more intimate. Our wait staff on the smaller boat got to know us better too. I'm guessing because they had less people to tend to each meal - but I think it's a preference thing.

However - I will say the Aquaduck is a HUGE selling point for the bigger ships.

Just got off the Fantasy yesterday. It's CROWDED. I've previously sailed on the magic and will be back on a classic ship next time. I agree the adult areas are bigger on Fantasy but 90% of us are in the family pool that's the same size on either ship but 1,000+ more passangers on Dream class. Even Castaway Cay is more crowded on Fantasy vs Magic. I feel the Fantasy is the epitome of Disney greed. But the service, food, entertainment and all is great on both ships.

We have been on the Wonder, the Fantasy, and then back to the Wonder. There are differences, yes, but were we disappointed when we boarded the Wonder after the Fantasy....absolutely not!

We have been on all the ships. My fav is the Magic. I just love the classic feel and the magic and wonder are much easier to navigate But the dream and fantasy have outstanding adult areas. And I love the bar between palo and remy. But I didn't notice much difference in the rooms.

We did 2 weeks straight on the wonder last year and our 3 cruises before that were on fantasy.

It's definitely different but still lovely.

Staterooms were updated already in 2015. Bathrooms in staterooms very similar to larger ships. Monie theater is smaller but still there. We found more than enough adult only activities but it also was a longer cruise. But we have never had trouble finding adult only activities on any of the 4 ships over 10 cruises.
