After three consecutive cruises aboard the Fantasy, would the Wonder be ...

Have only been on the Wonder and the Magic. We love both. Having been on the Wonder more we do love everything about it. Would love to try the Fantasy or Dream but they don't go where are travels are leading us. At least not yet. For us I think that bigger is not always better.

We did a 3-night on the Dream a few years ago, and while I enjoyed it, I left feeling like I wanted more.
We just got off the 7-night Wonder on Monday. I was, like you, nervous that it would feel old/outdated. I was wrong. We loved everything about it! It didn't feel crowded at all, the staff was great, and we didn't miss any of the shine of the newer ships. It was just my husband and I, and we found plenty of adult activities to keep us busy, including movies!

I often point out in these threads the Dream Class vessels have a higher space ratio than the Classic ships.
Displacement divided by pax equals space ratio.

Magic Class 34
Dream Class 37

True, but this is a very skewed way of looking at it as it doesn't take into account spaces that are not open to the public as well as cabin space. With the Dream Class having about 50% more people on board then the Magic Class all those people have to sleep somewhere and those cabins have no impact on my experience. Also, the addition of the Duck Tail has no impact on my enjoyment of the ship but using your calculations increases my space ratio and therefore should mean I should have more space on board. If there was someway to compare public passenger space then I think you have a winner of a formula.

Actually it does take all spaces, open to the public or not into consideration. Crew, pax, officers, kitchens, and everything into account.
Displacement divided by pax. How hard is that to comprehend?

I suppose my view could be construed as "skewed." Or it could be construed as comparing two DCL vessel categories comparatively with an even perspective.

Readers can judge for themselves.

BTW it's 40 % more pax on the Dream Class, not 50% more. (than the Magic Class)

I will give you the Dream Class does have 1000 more pax. But they have 46,000 more tons of steel/space for those pax.
So they have 46 more pounds of steel per pax.

Work it however you want.....

There is more steel per pax on the Dream Class per pax than the Magic Class.

You can work the numbers however you like.

It doesn't change the facts.

Of course we may differ on the facts.
And that is cool. And that is what it is all about.

:)

Dream Class still has more new steel per pax. lol.

Even though the Magic Class is coveited more .

:)

We have sailed on all 4 ships. I liked the decor of the Wonder the best.

Im spoiled with the extra amenities of the new ships, but the Wonder is a nice ship.

Try it, even if you prefer one of the larger ships, it is still a Disney Cruise.

I did the Fantasy in 2014 and did the Wonder last May. To be honest, I LOVED the aqua duck and I thought I'd be bored on the Wonder. Nope, I was wrong. I ended up enjoying it (It was the PC Miami-San Diego)

I want to address your points but I don't want you to think I'm attacking you because that is no where near my intention, simply looking for an exchange of ideas.

In my response I stated that the calculation used, being a space calculation, didn't account for areas that passengers cannot access. On a cruise it make would make a huge difference to a passenger if say the engine room took up half the ship vs say 10% of the ship. The space ratio used treats them the exact same, which is where I feel issue lies and therefore feel that the ratio should take those areas into consideration to offer a true passenger space ratio. Yes Dream class is larger than the Magic class but that doesn't mean that the public areas offer any more space, thus impacting pax experience.

I really didn't say your view was skewed, just the calculation you referenced.

50% more people, not passengers, but passengers and crew.
