After the kids move on, do you still do Disney?

My kids are now 17 & 19 and they have went so many times that they no longer want to go . I have been going with a friend for the last few years.
I also took my Nephew who is now 5 for his 3rd Birthday for 9 days and it was wonderful to see his face seeing everythiing for the 1st time . But last year when I took my FIL,MIL,DH for 6 days it was even better being able to do all grown up rides again .

We took the kids every few years as they were growing up. It's our turn now! NO MORE WAITING TO USE THE BATHROOM . They are 22 and 17 and each time we tell them we're going to WDW for a long weekend you should hear them whine; one from college 200 miles away. Last summer we all went down for a quick family fix, but it's great with just the wife. Wish we'd bought DVC a long time ago - but couldn't afford it then. Now points will last forever with only the 2 of us in a studio! The family memories are great, but we have to get in a few years before it's time to take the grandkids!!

Wow! It sounds like most of you have discovered your own magic at Disney without the kids. I'm just curious...how do you do Disney without the kids? Do you do less rides, more restaurants, more golf, other distractions? Or how has your touring sans kids changed? Or has it?

Anyway, you've given me hope for life at Disney after kids--it might take some convincing for my wife to see the value, however. (Of course, it's always pure joy for her to go anywhere with her delightful husband.

I still love the rides. Except Small World. LOL, my kids never liked it either. It's really irritating. I just like being in the parks and doing what we want. We're doing more restaurants, Pleasure Island and whatever we want.

i also feel a bit like time is slipping away for us when it comes to family vacations at WDW. we bought into DVC last year with the idea of going every year as a family. DS#1 has said that he may not want to go next year. this was a bit sad to hear but i realize that this year he has really come into his own. he has grown considerably as a person, has a good circle of friends nad wants to get a job, get ready for college so the last thing on his mind is a WDW vacation. we do enjoy long trips, 9 days or more, so maybe we can still get him to come by telling him he can just leave after a few days and i have told him that he can bring a freind along on the next trip if he wants so maybe that will help. I was kidding my wife that this is like him leaving the nest. but i still have baby bird that is almost as big a\disney addict as i am so i still have my ride buddy.



this year for the first time we spent a day alone at the world, kids left a day early to visit reatives and it was a real funny feeling. i felt like we were dating all over again. it was almost scary to me. all you want is to be able to spend some quality time alone with your significant other and when you get it you suddenly feel real nervous. we kidded each other about it and just went about enjoying the rest of our day at WDW as boyfriend and girlfriend instead of mom and dad.
