After reserving car w/National, if rates go down will they honor them?

I keep seeing posts that state "my rental rate keeps going down". Will National change the rate you have if it goes down after you have booked? Just wondered because I am getting ready to call and book one to be picked up for a couple of days at the Dolphin resort using the contract id codes found on Mousesavers. Any info is appreciated.

You need to make a new reservation and cancel the old. I always book over the internet so I do it myself. I don't know if they would just change it on a phone reservation.

I would book online print out your confirmation information and then just check back and see if the price has gone down. If it has just book the new reservation print out your new confirmation and then just cancel your higher priced reservation. I do this all of the time.

My hubby has always been skeptical about booking anything online as he likes "a real person" and is sketched out by putting our credit info on the internet. Has anyone ever had a problem at checkin with online reservations? I know when you use Orbitz, Expedia, etc, it is not the same as if you book directly with the hotel, airline or whatever it is you are booking, but I guess since this is National's own website there should be no problem, huh?

We book just about everything on line if we can. We have been using quick rent through National for awhile now and have never had any issues. Just print out your confirmaion page and then you will also receive a confirmation email. Print that out also and bring it all with you. We have never had any issues.

is your card charged right then, or does that just hold the ressie and you pay when you pick up the car? Just wondered if I cancel and change several times if that ties up several charges?

I just booked DH a car from national and didnt put any credit card info in...I'm not a member of nationals website or anything...however got the confirmation- and also can go in now and check it???

hmmmmmm cant remember if I put a credit card in when I rented our van for texas...

BC, your credit card does not get 'charged' until you return the car. I'm not sure if National puts a hold on your card for the rental amount when you pick the car up or not.

We've used National at least 15 times and never had a problem with our CC information being misused. No problem with Dollar, Budget, Thrifty or Avis either.

You only need to put in credit card information if you want to use Quick Rent. This allows you to by pass the counter. You do not have to "join" anything to use Quick Rent and there is no additional fee for the service. We love being able to by counter.

We have an 830am ressie at Chef Mickeys on the morning we are to turn the car in so I was wondering if we can go over from the Boardwalk where we will be staying and drop it off before hours and if so, how do we get a copy of the total charges that were made to us if no one is there?
