After passing ROFR, how long before I can make a reservation?

Hi!

Just wondering, we are waiting for ROFR right now, but we would like to make a reservation for a 2 bedroom at HHI in November...the 7 month mark is April 17th. I don't expect to pass ROFR until mid or late march, so chances are I will miss being able to book this at 7months. Hopefully HHI isn't too popular in November!

Once you pass ROFR, it should take about another two weeks for all the contracts to be signed, the deal closed and the deed recorded. Once it gets recorded, everything is sent to Disney, where it could take two to three weeks for them to input your contract and add its points.

The one issue you may run into is people have reported that Membership Administration has been telling people that you can no longer call to get your membership number over the phone. They say you have to wait for your membership packet to arrive via snail mail (which could easily add another two to three weeks to your wait time.)

If you pass ROFR in late March, then you probably won't be able to make reservations until sometime from late-April (best case scenario) to mid-to-late May.

Missy Rose is on the money and I would also add that how quickly the current owners return their signed paperwork will either speed up or delay the process.

If you already have an account, how long does it take to load newly purchased points into the system (although a different UY)? Is it any quicker since you have an account already, or just as long? Thanks

If it is a different Use Year, it will be an additional (new) membership number and you will likely be subjected to the timeline described above. If the resale has the same Use Year and is titled the same it can be added to your existing membership and you would have access to those points as soon as they appear in the account - but with a new Use Year, you will need to wait until the deed is recorded, sent to DVC, points loaded into the system.

HOWEVER, you may be able to view the new contract online as soon as everything is loaded into the system and before your membership packet arrives.

Let's hope that is the case! :)

Thanks everyone! I hope that there are rooms available at HHI at the6 month mark then!

Great info on this thread! My mom just did an add-on and has passed ROFR, and has signed all contracts/paid, etc. a few weeks ago so this could be any day now that she can start making reservations!

If I understand correctly, although there are 2 membership #s with different UYs, you still can use just one on-line account with both memberships. Is that correct?

If the contracts are titled the same, then yes. You can log in once and toggle between membership numbers using a drop down menu.

:lmao: We are in the same boat. Waiting for the closing to finish but we will have a different UY.

Will I also get a new membership card?

Will I also get a new membership card?

Yes, you will get a membership card with the member number for the resale purchase and it will also carry the original date when that contract was directly purchased from DVD. We first purchased in June, 1993 and a few years later bought our first resale contract. The membership card we have for that account says "Member since March, 1992" even though we didn't buy it until 1997.

Multiple memberships, it titled the same, will be available online through your login. We currently have three different membership numbers (previously had a 4th) and can see all online on the same screen.

You will also be able to transfer points between memberships to combine points based on their Home Resort status (ownership under multiple memberships at the same resort may be combined at 11 months or at 7 months for multiple resorts). MS has been allowing more than one transfer between multiple memberships of the same owner - but that could be halted at any time as it is not a publicly written policy.

BTW, except for Thanksgiving, availability for 2BR villas at HH should be good at 7 months. Studios and 1BRs still disappear quickly just due to the small number of those units (21 of each), but 2BRs are usually the last to still be available. Enjoy! :)
