After my trip last week. I will never stay off site again...

They are extras. Fastpasses are also "extra". You can ride the rides without them. If you like standing in lines, great! No need for Fastpasses. If you don't, figure out a way to get FP+ (in this case, get a throw-away room....in my dream world, buy an unlimited FP+ with no 3-ride-per-day restriction).

You can be in Disney World and not spend a dime on ensuring FP access to rides, either. You wouldn't be a "lesser guest" any more than those brown-bagging their lunch are vs. those eating at Le Cellier.

What, specifically, do you see guests with Universal Express Pass, SeaWorld Quick Queue, or Disney FP+ doing that equates to "pushing around" other park visitors?
FP were not extra if I paid admission...just like everyone else. Some people used them, some didn't.The "pay more to play more" mentality makes me sick...just another way to bleed another buck out of those who can,and are willing to pay that premium. The folks who cant afford those "front of the line"passes just have to wait...real nice...That is exactly what is wrong with the world today....that's what breeds the"entitlement"attitude...."I can pay more,so the heck with the rest of you!!"

Gina, yesterday was our Discovery Cove Day. Awesome!!! Next year my son will be old enough for the dolphin interaction. We went to Seaworld today. We'll go at least one more time while we are here. Thank you so much for the suggestion to go the Discovery Cove route. We so appreciated our 6 hour stay at Seaworld knowing we could just come back tomorrow. Or the next day. :)

Fwiw, we are in a 1 BR presidential at Bonnet Creek. Sooooooo love it compared to being crammed into a club level room at AKL. And love that it's 1/5 the price for 3 times the space. And yes, I know rooms and space don't matter to all visitors. Please don't flame me.

I am soooo happy you are having a good time!!!! And I'm absolutely delighted you had fun at Discovery Cove :goodvibes . I hope you will do a little trip report once you get home.....I would love to see your pics of BC too!

Under the old system, yes. Under the new system, offsiters are no longer "just like everyone else", as Disney has restricted them to booking FP+ on the day of their visit (while onsiters can book FP+ in advance).

I am totally baffled by the responses like yours. You speak of the "entitlement attitude". Entitlement is defined as the fact of having a right to something. I am not saying I have a right to anything :confused3 . I am saying it would be nice to get what you pay for (and that yes, I am willing to pay the price). To have the opportunity to pay for an upgrade, if you want it. Its the way of the world, even at a place as "magical" as Disney. The more money you are willing to pay, the more you are going to get. If you are willing to pay the hugely inflated prices for an onsite resort, you're going to get EMH. You're going to get transportation to and from the airport. You're going to get package delivery to your resort. Because you paid more, you get more. I don't think that's an entitlement attitude at all......its capitalism. Its why folks (like me) are willing to pay $25+ per person, plus gratuity, to eat breakfast with Mickey Mouse when we could get a more expansive breakfast at Golden Corral for a fraction of the cost. I pay more to get more (one-on-one time with Mickey). Its not "entitlement", its a choice. And yes, that choice comes at a cost.

Do you honestly think Disney (and ALL the theme parks, for that matter) is not trying to find ways to "bleed another buck" from their guests? Have you noticed that every ride exits into a gift shop? :rolleyes1

An honest question......do you also resent the other profitable ventures (Bibbity Bobbity Boutique, Pirates League, etc.) found in the parks, which not everyone would be able to afford? Or do you consider them different than a front-of-the-line pass?

So happy that I booked a throw away night at a campsite! Well worth the $90 for the end of April so that I can book FP+ for my 10 day trip. Plus I get at least 2 days of free parking so it's totally worth it, IMO!

Will stop me going to Disney rather than make me stay onsite!

Old type was great, grab a ticket at the ride and go back, I don't want to book weeks in advance what I'm going to ride at 10am on a Tuesday at which park, I want to get up and choose a park at random and ride everything.

This is why we booked Wyndham Bonnet Creek last time- got a wonderful 2 bedroom place with huge bathrooms, AND booked a value room. Checked in, got free parking, magic bands, FP+, etc etc.

Room at WBC was 120/night. Room at a value was 78/night- got a great code via orbitz :) This is what we will do each and every trip from here on out. Worked out beautifully!

Wait, so you booked WBC for your entire stay and then booked a value for just one night and that enabled you to book FP and get Magic bands etc...? (or you booked a value for the length of your stay.

pretty sure she only booked one night.. as of now, you only need one night booked onsite to enable getting fp+ for your linked lenght of tickets... you can only book your check in and check out day at 60 days... the other offsite days you have to book on a rolling 60 days booking each day seperate, like the adrs 180 days are now if that make sense..

You will also get your MB and if you actually check in, parking pass for 2 days of included parking... :)

Does it matter what kind of tickets you purchased? We have the military salute park hopper tickets and are staying off site. Does this mean I can book one night at a value, register my FP+ on my military salute tickets for all 4 days and still stay off site? While I am delighted at the thought, why would they allow that?? :confused3

I am sorry, I do not know the answer to that for sure.. I "think" the answer is no from what I remember reading in some other threads? maybe someone else will know that answer for sure.

Gina..was not referring to you personally..when I say "entitlement attitude",I am referring to such one's that have plenty of money to burn, and therefore "think"they are better than everyone else because of that fact....they feel that they are"entitled"to be treated better.I don't resent BBB,Pirates League,or any of the other"extras" that people are willing to pay for...just want equal riding priveledges for the price of admission without"buy-ups" being involved, thats all.And as far as the gift shops at the exits.....Ray Charles could "see"that. If Walt could see it now....He would be real happy to see that the "common family"is getting less of an experience because their wallets aren't as fat as some others...Yup.that is what he envisioned for "The Happiest Place on Earth".......Unfortunately,that IS the world we live in.

I didn't book a throwaway room but I did book our 1st night at a value before moving to visitana resort for the week. I'm glad I did. I just finished setting up all of our Fp+. 54 days to go!!

Ok, can you explain this a little more pretty please? We will be arriving the night before our check in at WBC, so I need one more night. Can I book one night onsite and do fastpass+ for our whole stay? Do I have to book an onsite room and the tickets too all from Disney?

YES, I ordered my tickets thru orbitz and was able to link them to MDE. I only booked 1 night at all star movies and at the 60 day mark I was able to add my 1st day of Fp then then next day another day opened up until I ran out of days on my tickets. (5day ticket)

I think its a very broad and unfair statement to say that those that are finally blessed think they are better than everyone else, and feel they are entitled to be treated better. I personally find the entitlement mentality much more common in the families that have saved like mad in order to be able to afford to go.....because its been such a financial mountain to climb, they feel they've paid a huge sum for their vacation and they are now entitled to some Disney magic.

Where I live, the "common family" cannot afford a Disney vacation. Most folks I know would give their eye teeth to be able to visit. How do you think Walt would feel about a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom villa at SSR going for $700 per night, when similar (and dare I even say, better) accommodations at the Sheraton Vistana Resort around the corner are under $150 nightly for the same time frame? How can that price range possibly encompass the "common family"? Disney appears to have strayed from the original vision in more than one regard.

We will have to agree to disagree on whether a front-of-the-line pass for an extra fee would be a benefit or a disservice to guests. I have tried Universal's Express Pass, and loved it. I have tried Seaworld's Quick Queue, and loved it too. I have tried Disney's Fastpass- and even it had some merits. With Disney placing offsite guests at a disadvantage for FP+, I will probably not even bother giving that system a try. If they ever implemented an unlimited FP for a fee....I'd return in a heartbeat.

Would you be able to do dining reservations like this too? 180 day mark?

We don't know if we are staying onsite or offsite yet, I am pretty sure it will be onsite, but by the time I will know 100% and book it will be well past 180 days.

I believe anyone can book dining at 180 days. Maybe + 10 for those onsite . I also think they will open up the Fp+ to people staying offsite soon. They are doing some testing on it now.

I just read this. Can you clarify this:

If you book a campsite for one night , you get 2 day parking and advanced fast pass?

Yes. Free parking is check-in and check-out day, so it might be best to have 2nd night of your stay be the night you book your throwaway room. However, you can't have FP+ until check-in day so think about that if you go to a park on arrival day.
