After making reservations/better deal??

I realize I should know the answers to these questions but I'm wondering if any of you have gotten better deals after reserving at a higher rate.
We want to go in December this year. If I make reservations now but find out later about a better rate can I call and get that rate?
Or should I wait for the post card they have sent me the last couple of years with these incredibly low rates and then book it? I'm afraid if I reserve now they won't send me a post card. (Since I'm obviously coming and don't need to be tempted with the low rate at a Deluxe.)

I know that you can definitely make the reservaton now and call back to get the discount later if it is available. I have seen people doing that and I will do so when the next discount is available.

Also, pay attention to the mousesaver for upcoming discounts.

I always book once I know I definately want to go. Then I look for discounts and change when they come along. This way, at least I know I have the resort I really wanted. I don't ever expect a discount so if by chance I get one I am thrilled about it.

You can always update/modify your reservations. Always call back because you may receive lower rates. We always book and keep checking for better deals and more often then not, we have been able to lower the price of our vacation.
