After installing DING, do I keep it minimized at all times?

OK, this is the third time that I installed DING. The first two times, right after I installed it, I got a DING. I looked at it, saw that they weren't anything that I was interested in, and "X'd" out of the window. This time, right after installing it, it "minized" itself, a new "DING" happened. I checked it out, didn't want anything, and then I minimized it again. Should it always be minimized (so that it remains "open" for DINGS at all times) or can I fully close it and still receive DINGS somehow. I'm so confused

Do you have the little icon in your toolbar near your time? If that is there then you can close everything else and it will still alert you by putting a little envelope over the wing icon when you have a new ding.

If you want to be notified when something comes in, then keep in minimized.
It won't hurt anything.

Keep it minimized. Watching the enveope (small) by the icon on the toolbar really is the key. "Xing" it out to close it should not cause a problem.

Thanks everyone. I now see the SWA Ding thingy (thanks jjan for telling me exactly where it's supposed to be). I am so computer illiterate.
