what happens? Do I receive anything from the hotel?

I think all you get is the confirmation from Priceline. We didn't receive any info from our hotel.

We've never recieved anything from the hotel, just print out the priceline confirmation and take it to check in.

I've read somewhere that the hotel sometimes gives you a smoking room when you request a nonsmoking room, etc, in other words, since you paid a lot less for room, you're going to get whatever they want to give you.

I've never heard anything like that happening. But, if you're concerned email the hotel directly with any requests. As with any reservation (full price or discount), you're never guaranteed special requests until check-in. It might help to email, but I really wouldn't fret over it.

The one time we've used Priceline we paid $90 for a super nice and fancy hotel in Downtown Chicago (I was nervous with the kids). We were never treated like 3rd class. At check-in they offered us two doubles since we had the kids, but told them we preferred a king room (brought bedding for the kids). There was absolutely no problem with that request.

Call the hotel directly and check which room they put you in. The hotel can tell you if you're put in a smoking room/king room, etc etc.

We've used priceline many times and 9 times out of 10 they put us in a smoking room and because DH always calls the hotel 1/2 hour after making the reservation, the hotel was able to change the room assignments around and give us non-smoking, double/queen beds.

We've never been treated any differently at any of the priceline hotels we've been to, including Hilton, Marriot, Grand Hyatt, Four Points Sheraton, Country Inn. They always treated us just like any other guest.

I've used Priceline lots of times and I've never been put in a smoking room. I guess I've just been lucky.

To OP's original question...I've never received anything from the hotel. Just print out your confirmation and take it with you. Also, like the others have said, you can call the hotel with special requests. However, you are not guaranteed anything other than what Priceline has stated.

I've been put in a smoking room once -- at a Hilton rated 3*. I asked to be moved, but they claimed there were no nonsmoking rooms. A conversation with a different desk person at check out made me think the first one may have lied.

I've had excellent results w/Priceline everytime I've used them. Often I will call and make sure it's a no smoking. Once we had to request a rollaway. Worked out wonderfully...

I usually call the hotel and get a confirmation from their side that I actually have the reservation.

I've used Priceline MANY times, no problems at all. As for the attitude of the check in clerk, that varies like with any personality. If you get a clerk who thinks "for this price, you get what we give you", you have a problem, but if you get one who gasps at your rate and gives you a high five, you're in like Flynn!

I remember getting a $65 rate for a $300 room once and the clerk was blown away. She winked at me as she gave me the keys!
