I’m planning a trip for 4 adults and 5 teen boys last week of March. I need advice for our weekly plans which are currently:
Sunday: EPCOT …open - close
Monday: MK After hours …7p - 1am
Tuesday: AK …Noon - 8pm
*Wednesday: Hollywood Studios + After hours… Noon - midnight
*Thursday: Off/rest
Friday: MK 9am - close

This is for my son’s graduation trip with friends and their parents that haven’t taken their kids before. This is my kids 5th WDW visit so we know our way around and what appeals to us. The other family is letting me do all the planning.

We have 4 day park tickets and the After Hours at MK and HS. Originally I thought it would be cool to plan a HS park day with the AH tickets so we could eat at Sci-Fi and see Fantasmic. But one of our favorite rides - Rockin RollerCoaster will be down for maintenance. So that stinks. I used a touring plan app to figure out our park day at HS leading into the after hours event. Long story short….we will not get our bang out of our Disney Buck by using our park ticket at HS that day. We have voted against Genie+ for MK snd HS since we have after hours tickets.

I think a better option would be to use our 4th park day at Epcot on Thursday with noon arrival. Which would give us two park days at Epcot. I have always thought Epcot is a two-day park anyway. Especially now that they have added new rides like GoG and Remy - which we have not experienced yet.

This would make our new plan:
Sunday: EPCOT …open - close
Monday: MK After hours …7p - 1am
Tuesday: AK …Noon - 8pm
*Wednesday: HS After hours… 7pm - midnight
*Thursday: EPCOT - noon - close
Friday: MK 9am - close

?? Who has done HS after hours that can say that you can get everything done during After hours ??

We would miss Sci Fi and Fantasmic…which is not a big deal. There are plenty of nice places to eat at Disney Springs for that day or other resorts. And I think the teen guys won’t mind missing Fantasmic.

We don’t mind using our off day for another park day. It was there for some Flex Time anyway. Just need extra opinions please.

The first after hours event for Hollywood studios is January 4th. So I don’t think anyone will really know until then

We have booked HS after hours the week of April 2nd. No extended evening hours announced yet, but MK is usually also on Wednesday (the night we are doing HS "after hours"). Have they ever done an "after hours" and still done the deluxe "extended evening hours" on the same night, or IF they did it that week at MK would they move it to another night? Does anyone have any past experience with this? I realize all future things are unknown.

Currently (January), DHS after hours and MK extended hours are on the same night.

Thanks -- I thought I had looked and didn't see any overlap but probably because I haven't looked recently. That's a bit of a bummer since I was hoping to take the kids one night to MK to get on some things without waiting, but we will be there a week with park hopping so I think we can probably get on all the thing they want -- can always head over to MK after an afternoon swim if lines look short (crossing my fingers!).

For teenagers, I think this isn't enough HS. I'd swap an Epcot day for HS, or even skip AK.

Especially if this is the kind of crew that wants to make lightsabers and go to Oga's and check out all the little details in Star Wars.

Epcot is a 2 day park if you want to look at all the country displays, stare at the train in Germany for an hour, eat crepes, and talk to Belle in French. The teenagers will want to ride four rides and leave. They don't want to go on Figment or Tres Caballeros.

I'd seriously reconsider the off day to make sure you can cover HS and AK. With the half day schedule, which I think is smart, you probably need it.
