After Hours events or Deluxe extended hours?

Hi fam. So many ticket changes and extras I am feeling like a total newbie planning for April! We are splitting between OKW and AKJ. Is purchasing the After Hours for Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios worth it or should we lean on the extended hours for deluxe guests? (is that still a thing, will it be in April?) We are running the Springtime Surprise and then staying for a week subsequent. That week is the northeast April vaca so I'm sure it will be packed.

The Deluxe evening hours are wonderful. I can’t imagine that a paid event would gain you more access to the parks that offer it.

I did the HS After Hours pre-pandemic and it was glorious. Literally rode RnRC 6 times in a row, two of those times me and my husband rode completely by ourselves. I would say that it DAH offers all of the heavy hitter rides at HS then that would be worth the price, especially since HS doesn't have deluxe extended evening hours for the time being. You'll want to double check, however, to see what rides are actually offered during after hours.

Deluxe extended evening hours should be great at MK based on all the reports we are seeing. It seems like you can get a lot of rides knocked out in those two hours. If it were me, personally, I would book one less park day than originally intended and substitute that day with after hours at HS if they have a date that is available during my visit.

Deluxe EEH (extended evening hours) is usually

Monday at Epcot and Wed at MK, with nothing at HS or AK (Exception is the last 2 weeks of Dec have an additional EEH at HS on Thursdays).

If you wanted to do at all 4 parks just buy HS and AK DAH.

I rode Space Mountain on a train completely alone at MK EEH in September.

They aren't doing it (as of yet) at AK. It's just at HS and at MK and for whatever weird reason they've decided to hold them on the same nights as EE....so MK After Hours is on Mondays along with EP Extended Evening and HS After Hours is on Wednesdays with MK Extended Evening.

To the OP -- we also did After Hours at HS pre-pandemic and pre-Galaxy's Edge. It was worth it them and I would imagine it is worth it now...with a caveat. Since the EE at MK is free for DVC guests I would not pay for it.

Keep in mind, they may not have EEH in April. It has been advertised as a part of the 50th celebration which ends in March.
They stated it will last through 2023. It’s on the extended evening web page:

Our popular extended evening hours benefit for Guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels will continue beyond the 50th Anniversary celebration throughout all of 2023!

Ah, I missed that. Thanks.
Wish they announced it earlier. I didn't think it would last past the new year and I bought DAH tickets instead.

Is there anyway to know what rides will not be open during After Hours at MK? What was it like in the past?

At this time we don't have a definitive list, but on the DAH MK webpage it says over 20 attractions will be available followed by a short list of "some" of the attractions you can enjoy.

My guess is Splash will NOT be one of the rides available, but all of the other big attractions should be.

How do the after hours compare to moonlight magic events? We went to the 1st MM event at HS last year and it sucked. SDD was still an hour at midnight, never could get on ROR, and waited over an hour for smuggler's run. TOT was over an hour most of the night, I'd be willing to pay for the after hours if lines are really shorter, but not if it's going to be the same experience as the MM.

I went to After Hours in MK January 2019. The longest wait was SDMT at 20. Almost everything was a walk on. Very few people.
