After Free Dining - trade CS for TS?

I know that there is a promotion during free dining for switching out TS and CS credits....but...is there normally any type of switching out policy when it is not free dining?

I'm interested in switching CS for more TS meals. I'd gladly give up some snacks.

Anyone every tried this?

I don't think so. I'm pretty sure they are just allowing the trading TS for CS to accommodate the number of diners that were not able to make ADRs.

While it's been possible to trade credits down under some circumstances, WDW has never permitted trading up.

Just to reinforce the above responses: it has never ever ever ever ever, in the history of the Disney Dining Plan, to "swap out" one type of credit for another. It has been possible, during free dining, when the restaurants are overcrowded and Guests with the plan find themselves unable to get any TS reservations, to use Table Service credits for Counter Service meals - but never ever ever ever ever the other way around.

Wouldn't everyone love to trade CS credits for TS credits?!

I had one TS credit left at the end of our stay (last week)
and
all I got was a coupon for 2 very small snacks
or 2 bottles of soda/water. I was glad we were on
FD or I would have been mad if that was all I could
get for a TS credit.

I have always thought they should allow the swapping of 2 CS credits for a TS. I mean it is pretty much financially equal so don't quite get why they dont.

I think that everyone on the DDP would love to trade CS for TS meals. It has never been allowed, the plan is not set up like that. I wish they would though.... and probably everyone else on this forum would love that too!!

OH NO! I have no ADR's. I just booked free dining and assumed I could use my TS at a CS if need be. Why wouldn't that work????? I don't want any "extras" - just a cheaper meal for my TS credit... Please, tell me this is possible! Anyone with personal experience with this? For those of you who have done it, did you have to go to guest svcs to get "approval" ahead of time? I thought I'd just be able to tell the cashier when I pay......

PANIC

Dear Panic, this is NOT automatically allowed. You cannot just tell the cashier. sorry.

It's not allowed. I know that exceptions can be made sometimes, but it's not a given and cashiers don't even have the ability to do it without an override from a manager (who isn't always around to handle it).

I'd be getting on the phone to see about snagging some ADR's.

How did you go about getting the coupon for the extra ts credit? Did your hotel take care of it? Does Disney offer any exchanges for extra CS credits as well?

We went up to Guest Services and ask what we could get for our left over
1 TS Credit and that's what we got it was only worth about $4.00 of merchandise--I was glad I had FD or I would have really been mad.:sad2:

Well, no one knows what Disney might allow for the "new" free dining periods in October/November/December

but...for the August/September free dining this year they ARE allowing you to use a TS credit at a CS restaurant.....you get the CS meal PLUS they give you 2 snack credits (I'm not sure if the snacks are specific items or just any snack....I wasn't on the plan so I didn't store the detail in my brain).

They announced this like the week or two before free dining started....probably because people were complaining about no availablity for booking TS restaurants......and therefore not being able to use their credits, which while called "free" really aren't if you paid a high rate for a room to get them and then can't use them and have to pay out of pocket to eat at a CS. So it sounds like enough people complained that they made a new policy.

I haven't seen anything yet that says this new policy will be in affect for the next wave of Free Dining. To the PP who hasn't made any ADRs, are you going this month for free dining? If so, then you WOULD be able to do as I described above. If your free dining though is the October/November/December dates....then I suggest that you get on the phone ASAP and start trying to get some ADRs. While it's always possible they'll carry over this new policy into those new dates, I wouldn't bet on it. I'd make some ADRs now and if the new policy is announced for your dates, then you can simply cancel. But not making ANY now would be a pretty bad idea, and could very well mean you'll not be able to use those TS credits.

I haven't heard that Disney's computer system is back up and running, so you may call and find you can't do it today, but I'd definitely try ASAP.

I expect we will have extra CS credits since we leave before lunch the last day, and I am traveling with my 1 year old, can I order a kid's meal with one of my and then my dh's 'extra' cs credits? or can we only get adult meals? Just trying to plan ahead!

Thanks! We are going in Nov. We never succeed at sticking to a strict schedule on vacation and have not previously used DDP. So, I called and CM told me there is no exchanging (either way) for that time period unless you are on the Deluxe Plan. AMAZINGLY, I got ADR's for Boma, LeCellier, 50's Prime Time, O'Hana, and they will apply 2 TS to my Thanksgiving at the Fort meal that I had already prepaid and refund my $$. I'll wing it on my 1 last TS...

I am so relieved! Thanks! Now, we just have to hope we can "stick to the plan!
