After counting down all those days I finally made it to SSR!

I am enjoying your TR. Good news about your DB and family getting to open the park. Any chance you were able get there in time to take pictures? I think just watching some family open the park would have been great.

Yes I got some GREAT shots! Once I get home and DH takes them off my camera I'll post some. They got a whole load of pictures on a special Photo Pass and got one free. Of course they're able to order others but then they have to pay for them.

Ms. WDW...........my DD & I are also at SSR right now. It is our first time at this resort & we are really enjoying it. We are in the Grandstand Section. Love the "quiet" pool.

We were in the torrential downpour last night also. DD's sneakers are still drying!

Currently waiting for this big cloud to pass so we can also head to EPCOT for our ADR's!

Enjoy the rest of your trip!

Oh nice! I love SSR. I usually stay in Congres Park but when I'm traveling alone prefer the Springs.

Oh that rain the other night!!! I can't remember the last time I got as wet as I did that night.

I'm glad you're enjoying your trip!! How long are you here for? I go home Thursday but we're not going to think about that right now. :lmao:

Have a fantastic day and enjoy!!

Wow, what a special time your family is having! I can't wait to see the pictures!

After a well needed rest I headed into Epcot to meet up with DB for dinner at Germany's Octoberfest. I had never eaten there and all my brother could do was talk about how many people told him he had to eat there and how good the beer was.....etc.

Well let me begin by saying this restaurant is now one of my favorites! At first I wasn't too keen on sitting with strangers but after a few minutes everyone is talking and you kinda forget that you didn't know these people! Now I'm not a beer drinker; never have been. But.....I had some beer that was absolutely out of this world good, and like Friday, I have no idea what it is!!! I actually wanted another last night thinking about it going back on the bus!! Sure hope my brother remembers what he ordered me! :lmao: The food was excellent...I fell in love with the red cabbage and pot roast. And of course there was "schnitzel", all sorts of sausages, beef dish, salmon, herring in a delicious cream sauce, roasted chicken, roast poark and an abundant amount of sides including "spatzel" which I haven't had in over 50 years! Desserts.....boy oh boy....you gotta get there!!

Headed into MK to check on DB's free photo and caught The MK Electrical Parade which I always love and then I "quietly said good night" and beat the crowd to the bus. I was tired and needed to get these ole knees a rest.

Tomorrow (actually today) is a Linda morning and I'm relaxing at the pool while the "gang" heads into the Studios.

Have a great day everyone! :wizard:

Well Jean what you have to do is pick a morning that is NOT an early opening day and get there at 8 am!! LOL...we thought that MK opened at 8 when it actually opened at 9 so there was practically no one at the entrance! :rotfl:

Don't you just love it when a mistake turns into a miracle! I am such a sucker for this kind of magic. Your trip sounds like so much fun. Thanks for posting.

Short trip this time. We head home on Tuesday :guilty: because DD is taking a summer course at her university.

We'll be at the pool today also, but we'll be at the Grandstand quiet pool.....I'm assuming you're going to the main pool. If you see a mom toting a big blue Vera Bradley bag & her 18 year old DD say hello!

Spent most of the morning yesterday at the High Rocks pool and totally enjoyed it. Good thing too because according to the Weather looks like we're in for rain for most of the day. I just hope it's pouring; showers are ok. ;)

Went over to Riverside in the afternoon so I could say hello to my niece by marriage. She was recently transfered over there and it just so happens that where my brother is staying. We had a nice chance to visit awhile but I'll spend more time with her and my nephew when I come back in October. I wanted to thank her for being so kind to my brother and his family while they have been there. After that met up with DB and we went to their pool for awhile then shower, changed and off to Chef Mickey's for dinner.

Chef Mickey's was nice...The kids TOTALLY had a blast. The character interaction is wonderful and it gave them a chance to get some autographs as well as pictures. The family picture is awsome and of course we bought it!

After dinner we tried to get into MK before the Electric Parade, but decided to call it a night. DB had spent all morning and part of the afternoon at the Studios and they were a little tired. So we parted ways at the bus stop for a well needed rest.

Tomorrow (Today) back to Epcot to fast pass our way onto Test Track and Soaring and World Showcase. :thumbsup2

Well surprise...MK opened at 9 today not 8:00 as thought! But!!! My brother and his family were picked to open the park!!! How cool was that??? They got to ride the train in with Micket and crew; got all sort of cool pictures and felt like a million bucks!! I was so happy for them!! If my bus hadn't been slow I would have been with them but who cares!! This was awesome!!

Did lots of rides, spent about 6 hours in the park and I had enough fun for now! Back at SSR sitting out another storm then back to Epcot for dinner later. I want to see if I can get some shopping done; not sure if the rain will let me. We had downpours last night....looks like we may have the same later. Oh well...it's Florida!!

So awesome that your family was chosen to open the park. Every time we watch the show I comment that it would be SO FUN to ride the train with the characters. Such a special memory for your family.

We also LOVE Biergarten. We usually eat there for lunch, and we tried it on a whim one time. Now, it is a favorite. We love the selection and the price is reasonable (at least when we travel it is!).

I hope you stay clear of the rain storms and enjoy your last few days.

ok....two times I had this really long post and two times I lost it because of this internet connection here at SSR.

I'm done for the night!! I'll try and do it again tomorrow.

This is going to be the "condensed" version since I keep loosing the connection here.

Day 6 - back to Epcot and managed to get fast passes for Test Track. While we waited for our time to come we went on Soarin, then the Universe of Energy. Time for Test Track and that was such fun! After lunch we headed back to the resort for swimming then it's off to Villa Napoli for dinner. I had an individual pizza with two different types of mushrooms, kids had spaghetti and meatballs which surprisingly they loved! They tend to be on the "fussy side :rotfl: and DB and SIL had the veal parm...very good according to them.

After dinner we strolled WS, headed to te BW, caught the fireworkd then got on the bus for DTD. Needless to say I was pooped when I got back to the resort somewhere around midnight!

Yesterday I began gathering up my things :( so it wouldn't be a last minute scramble. After a light breakfast I headed into the Studios while the family went to AK. I managed to walk right onto Tower of Terror, then Rocking Rollercoaster (getting too old for that; got dizzy for the first time EVER) then strolled to see what Toy Story looked like . Forget it; 75 stand by and I wasn't going to be in the park at 2:00 for FP return. Hopped on the Movie Ride to cool off then back to the resort. Did more gathering, hit the pool for a little while then into the MK to meet up with the family. Dinner last night was at Liberty Tree and everyone really enjoyed it. Raining; again...but we had our ponchos. Got FP for Splash Mountain and while we waited family went on Thunder Mt. and I took my niece to the Aladain ride then we all met up and went back on Pirates. FP time for Splash and it was down!! Mechanical problems.....but.....we got there and within 5 minutes we were on. From there on it was just walking around and some shopping before the Electrical Parade then after that back to the resort.

Today I'm making the best of the last day; pool...packing...then meeting the family somewhere...not sure where yet!

You are certainly getting a lot of fun squeezed into your days in spite of hot or rainy weather. Have a great last day!

Why does it always go so fast????? :headache:

Enjoy your last day, but you'll be back in just a few short months for more EATING. YAY! :woohoo:

This was truely a great vacation and I'm so happy I was able to share it with my brother and his family. They have one more day and I miss them already! This is my "baby brother" and over the years we have drifted some. So this trip has reunited us as friends and family.

I'm sad; I always hate leaving. But as my friend Cee reminded me, I'll be back in October to "eat my way around the World". :lmao:

Today it rained quite a bit. We've had quite a bit of rain this trip; more than I remember in past June trips. I managed a few hours this morning in the pool getting those last few "rays". Packed up and headed to DTD to meet the family.

Dinner was Crystal Palace and I was not pleased. I usually always have a good meal and experience there but I found the selections especially in the cold area to be "lacking" something....I can't explain it. Hot food was ok; loved the pork in a marsalla sauce, and the mashed potatoes are always fantastic. Characters were missing; we waited over 45 minutes just to see Eyore and Piglet. There actually was almost a "fight" because apparently a server went to the "character escort" and asked that Tiger come to our side of the restaurant and when Tiger came in he was mobbed and the family who asked for him had a fit!!! But you know what...every meal can't be "magical" and there are going to be good ones and not so good ones!!!

Well my friends...time to pack up my note book.

Now for the next 4 months I'll be reading other's trip reports "counting down the days" again until I'm back in my Happy Place. Thanks for keeping me company this week!!

See you all tomorrow from home; my New York home. :goodvibes

:)Thank you for taking us along! Really enjoyed your TR as it reminded me of some of my family visits to WDW.

Well I'm back in New York. I had a great vacation but as strange as it sounds it's good to be home! Sure; I say that now. Wait until I unpack and see all the dirty clothes I brought home! I didn't stay in a 1BR this trip and didn't want to waste any "precious" time doing laundry! ;)

So I know what I'll be doing tomorow and it won't be riding Splash Mountain!! :rotfl2:

See ya later everyone!! :goodvibes

Time to post the next "Countdown" thread, young lady.

Happy laundering!;)
