It all started as soon as I got back from my one and only trip to WDW five years ago. I wanted to go back. I am going back in October and I am becoming a planning freak. Let me introduce the family:
Me: 46, LOVE to go on vacation, love to plan as much as going. I am a SAHM that works at home for DH's business. I am all about the kids
DH: 46, works very hard, needs a vacation, loves to go to Macinac Island, I am trying to convert him - we need to vacation somewhere else.
DS: 19, A sophomore in college will be down for a whirlwind weekend, you can't go without me, Mom.
DS: 16, just got a license and a car.
I have to miss the Homecoming dance and had to drop out of a play I worked so hard to get a part! I would rather be in Disney!!
DD: 10, Loves her horse. LOVES going on vacation. Can not wait until we go, counting the minutes and reading the disBoards with Mommy.
I alway read the budget boards and I began to read all the excitement about the upcoming free dining. Well, I can talk DH into going if there is FREE dining. This is such a great deal, how could we NOT go?? Well, I start out with , Hon, we can save OVER a thousand dollars if we can get free dining. He was pretty easy to convince. So, I am sweating it out on the budget boards reading about all the VISA people getting there rooms and finally it is my turn. I get up early make the call and I sit and wait......and wait.......and wait.......and finally a magical CM comes on the line and I have 2 rooms at ASMU for September 9th to the 18th. With free dining. That is of course the whole reason we are going, right??? Then I start to look around and decide, honey, wouldn't it be better to stay in a little nicer room? I happen to know that DH is a RItz Carlton kind of guy. So, I call Disney and change the room to CS 2 rooms adjoining. In the mean time I am constantly on line looking at all things Disney. HMMMM the Poly looks good. I call and they only have a room for September 22 to the 29th. Sounds fine, I will take it. I am soooooo Excited now! I started to show my family all the wonderful pictures and things about the Poly. I know this is gonna sound really bad...they did not like it. Dh did not want to share a room with the kids. Well, I found a one bedroom condo at SS. It was just slightly more expensive, but hey we were getting FREE dining and that is why we are going to DWD, right?? One more call to WDW. So we are all set. Time to look at the flights.
DD10 finds out the is a horseshow on 9/22. This is her life. She can not miss one show in show season or it will adversly affect her points for the High points awards banquet for the season. OK. I will call WDW back. No problem. We will go the 13th to the 21st. As long as we get free dining.
I continued to surf the net and I find out that it is really hot in Florida in September. I live in Michigan. I assumed it cools off everywhere in September. We have a problem. I don't like hot and humid. I don't like hot at all. We have to leave by September 22 to get the free dining plan. We are going to WDW for the free dining. We decide to fly out in the evening after the horseshow so we can go later in the month and it will be cooler. Okay, who is laughing right now??
I call WDW and of course there is not a room at SS for that time period......
I am off to learn how to post pictures because they make everything so much more fun....
