If you buy an "after 2pm" ticket for a convention and end up not having time to use the ticket during that trip - can you save it and use it in the future?

And if you are staying on property and use that type of ticket I'm guessing you are eligible for extra magic hours right?

Most of the convention tickets I've gotten have a specific hard-expiration date, typically about 14 days after the convention is over.

EMH eligibility is related to the hotel you're staying in, not so much the admission ticket you're using.

I can't really answer your question about expiration of the ticket. I would think if you paid for a one half-day ticket and did not use it, its not activated, so you wouldn't use it.
And you are definitely allowed to take part in extra magic hours; you're room key is key :) Have fun. I LOVE when work sends me to Disney!

Thanks for the information - unfortunately I cannot find any info one way or another as to whether the conference tickets expire within a certain # of days or months after the conference - even if you don't use them - or what. I was hoping someone here would know!

I can always try calling WDW if nothing else - thanks! :goodvibes

OK, I'd love to hear more about the convention ticket!! :bounce: I am attending a conference there, but staying for a few days afterwards. I have the days afterwards taken care of, but the convention is at the Gaylord Palms before. I was wondering about tickets (adding to my base ticket, but didn't know if that would work since I don't check into a WDW resort till after the conferecne)

How much are the conference tickets, and how/where do you get them? My conference is the Georgetown Institutes and I'm certain there will be at least 800 people attending the conference. Thanks for your help.

I don't think you can add them to your base ticket. The ones I've gotten have always been a seperate ticket. The info I got on them came from the conference people, not Disney so maybe they're different tickets than what you're thinking of.

They probably won't know. You need to address your question to the convention itself. Only they'd know for sure what arrangements they'll be offering you. Disney sells different types of convention tickets to different convention promoters, and the CRO folks don't have access to a cross-reference between conventions and the promotions they offer.

We're going to a convention in August and I was able to get up to an 8 day ticket (full day, not the after 2pm kind). It worked out to be the cheapest way to go. We'll miss out on the free dining, though, since with the convention discounts, the math doesn't work out in our favor, the "free" dining would cost a lot!

Sports and convention tickets are completely different than regular MYW tickets. Your convention tickets will be limited to use only during the year you purchase them. Example: ticket purchased May 4, 2006 must have the first use by December 31, 2006 and will expire 10 days after first use no matter when that occurs during the year.

I thought that you could use them through 14 days after you first activate them! I should call them, because if it's only 10 days, my vacation is totally messed up.

The last time I had them it was 14 days from the end of the convention -- it wasn't based on activation. As I mentioned before, I bet there are different kinds so you really need to ask your convention promoter which type they're offering you.

There are many kinds of specialty tickets. Some specialty tickets sold to conventions and sports groups offer regular MYW at a slight discount, some have the 10 day expiration tickets (see http://allearsnet.com/tix/05-convention4day.jpg for example), and some have ones that are good from 7 day before the event starts to 7 days after. And there are others as well so don't think that all specialty tickets are alike. They most definiitely are not.
