;) I know that there is no rhyme or reason to PINS but I have been receiving them for almost a year now without booking a single trip. You may be screaming at your screens now that I am absolutely crazy and you would be right. Before we had our daughter (our only child) I have dreamed about taking her to DW for her 5th Birthday when the MAGIC of Disney will feel like REAL MAGIC..and the Princesses will appear to be the ACTUAL Princesses that she is so crazy about.

ANYWAY, we have pretty much decided that our trip will hinge on a discount rate. If we get a discount offer for 35-40% off deluxe for our dates in May (2012), we will stay at the Contemporary and if we dont get an offer, we will stay in a Royal Room at POR.

The whole point of this post really is just to ask if I am being silly by thinking that my PIN discount notifications will stop once we book a room. Should I just get it over with and book the POR with the intention of upgrading if a discount is offered? Should I wait it out??

Opinions please! I dont want my Pixie Dust Pins to stop!

I booked a trip a couple weeks ago...registered for the free vacation planning DVD a few days ago and yesterday received a PIN....so no I don't think you have anything to worry about. And we've been in the past a few times and have also received PINs...

you could always book a res under an alternative email/cell phone number and hope that your main email receives a pin if you feel having an existing reservation would nix your pin chances.

I tend to agree w/that line of thinking btw as i always have 'something' booked w/DVC or CRO and receive zip. my adults kids get codes all the time, sometimes to 'my' email but I can't use them sigh.

If you're going even if don't get a discount, I would book now so you get the resort and room type you want and then upgrade when/if you get a pin :). I think pin codes are so random that having a trip already booked won't prevent you from getting one. We went this past December and before we left to come home, we booked a free dining trip as the booking window for that was ending the day before we came home. Then about a month after we got home, I got an email pin that covered most of this year ;). So in my experience, it's really hit or miss with getting pins. I would be safe and book now if you're going with or without a discount. Good luck :wizard:.

I booked my Jan trip last Sat and today I got a pin for room only for this fall...who can figure out their system!!!1

I agree. I think if you are going anyway try to book with a different e-mail. That way you will be in the system for 2 emails and will double your chances for a PIN!! :thumbsup2

I would book what you can afford. If you don't get a pin there are always gp discounts. May discounts normally come out in January. When discounts are released you can reevaluate your trip and upgrade if you can. If you can't afford to go pending a discount then I would just wait.

Right, in my post I said that we would book POR and pray for a PIN to bump up to the Contemporary. I suppose that I can stew over this for the next month and then book. Patience is not a virtue of mine though.

I just need to keep reminding myself that as long as I am booked before the 180 Advance Dining Reservation date, things will be just fine!
