We have stayed in the main building RPC and really loved the service, but it was an upgrade and we don't want to pay out of pocket to stay there again. Therefore, I figured I would book Sugar Loaf, so that we could still have concierge service. Now I have read that there is no lagoon or castle view at SL (I was unaware of this), which was what we really wanted in the first place, as we stayed in Lagoon View/Castle View the year before for our wedding/honeymoon and LOVED it!!!

What do you think? Can I switch to lagoon view? (I'm not locked into my SL ressie, right?)

You might get the marina or the leisure pool. We had the leisure pool and really enjoyed it. It was beautiful at night.

First off, lagoon view does not necessarily always mean Castle view.

Sugar Loaf is very nice but it is not the main building which is why the main building costs more.

Only you can decide if you will be disappointed.

I agree with the others. I haven't stayed in Sugar Loaf yet but have visited it many times over the years as a concierge guest of the GF, most recently last Summer. The building is lovely and I wouldn't hesitate to stay there.

But if you have your heart set on a Lagoon View room, then you need to book a Lagoon View room. You won't get that category of room with a Sugar Loaf stay due to the layout of the lodge building: click here.

Now, if you can open your heart up to a Sugar Loaf stay, I have some photos of the concierge lounge area and its food offerings that I took this Summer (I was staying in the Main Building but made a visit to Sugar Loaf in order to get a couple photos of the new late-night offerings): click here. Also, Step H recently returned from a Sugar Loaf stay. She has some gorgeous photos of the place: click here. From what she said of her Sugar Loaf stay, it was wonderful.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation no matter where you stay.

We stayed in SL a couple of weeks ago (Oct 16-20) and from our balcony if you looked to the right you could see alot of Wishes. We would also just walk out the door (closet to the marina) and sit on a bench a few steps away to watch the fireworks.

You are lucky that you were able to stay in the RPC, hurricane Jeanne had closed off the HM suites in the RPC where we were SUPPPOSEd to stay for our HM. We ended up in SL, which I was really disappointed about and although it was a nice place, I was really looking fwd to staying in the RPC VERY Much so... we will never be able to afford to stay there again. I think that if we had planned on staying in SL, my outlook would not have been this bad, It was a nice room that was very spacious and we had a view overlooking towards the pool/courtyard area.

I think only you can decide which is more important, a lagoon view or the concierge service. As others have mentioned though, a lagoon view in any building does not necessarily guarantee you a castle view. Ultimately, you could give up the concierge service and have a lagoon room that overlooks the Poly and Epcot.

The service that is offered in SugarLoaf is just as wonderful as what you receive in the main building. It's really the intangibles that make it different. While the main buildings lounge is bright, spread out and overlooks the lobby, the SugarLoaf lounge is quiet and cozy (JMO). The main lounge has 2 tvs and in the evening, you can listen to the GF orchestra play on the balcony below you. SugarLoaf seems somewhat like a bed & breakfast, with no tvs, but much more staff interaction and a homey feel. It's true that there are no direct MK views from SugarLoaf, but you can see the fireworks from some of the marina rooms. I believe it was 6315 that we had for a 4th of July trip and we had a great view of the fireworks.

Thank you for your input and extra special thanks to Janet2K for pics. I feel better about it now. When we stayed in RPC, we DID have castle view (Turret honeymoon suite - we had a panoramic view), but no balcony and no lagoon view and we certainly enjoyed it. So, I digress...I could be sitting at home staring at my neighbors...and rest assured, there is no room in my house NEAR as nice as a room at the GF!!!
