Affordable sandals for overpronators.

I think what you describe is supination. (bearing weight on the outside of the foot)

Pronation is bearing weight on the inside of the foot.

Ditto on that. Supination is actually much less common than pronation, but unfortunately, supination typically causes more problems.

I'm a supinator. At one point, I couldn't stand/walk for more than 1 hour without extreme pain. I know this sounds cliche, but the thing that really helped me was losing a significant amount of weight. As far as shoes...Chaco sandals were definitely the most comfortable for me. They're pricey (around $100), but definitely worth it. Teva sandals actually made my supination worse since my foot rolled outward too much. For regular tennis shoes, check out the New Balance website. There are 3 or 4 styles of shoes that are specifically recommended for supination.

My feet have always been super flat and I have problems finding sandals and flip flops that look okay on me. Oddly enough, Therashoe flip flops from KMart have been great for me. I never have foot pain after wearing them - and I lived in them for a summer - even walking around amusement parks all day. I've gotten them between $10 and $20 and the ones I lived in last year are still good to go for this year.

another vote for Merrels....they have a slip on snadals ( so not toe thing like flip flops) that have nice wide but not ugly sueded top . Also their athletic/walkers/general are very comfy as well. I also have a pair of the Siren sport which I love. While I do not have a diognosis for my feet, what you describe is similar to how my feet are.
Nose around www.merrell.com, and you may be able to find some at a discount if you have a DSW shoe warehouse near you, I was able to get the sandals for $13, and I got my Sirens at Carson Pirie Scott for $33...I am hooked now.

My DH has a foot issue (turns inside) and I have been buying him Keens and Merrell shoes. He won't wear anything else! I can pick up the Keens on sale or clearance (depending in your size) on shoes.com for good deals. I also see them on REI.com and cabelas.com in their clearance corners. The Merrells I haven't been able to find online yet for a bargain buster but they are worth it. IMO~If your feet hurt the day is shot! :)

If you are patient you'll find the online sales :)

Also check out 6pm.com I bought 2 pair of Keens there for about $35 each.
