Affordable resorts for large families

I got out my travel documents from last September and it plainly states GUARANTEED CONNECTING ROOM under the hotel reservation. I called again this morning to verifty this topic and the CM told me that if there are only two adults on the reservation and all of the children are minors that they will garantee the connecting room and if something happens when we check in and the hotel we are booked and it does not have a connecting room available, they would just upgrade us to another hotel that does have a connecting room. She said it would be no problem.

They guarantee them, as long as there is not a problem guaranteeing them. Rooms are NOT assigned to you until you are standing there, in front of the check in CM. They will do their best to give you connecting, but as long as you have 2 adults in your party, and if they have a problem with room inventory, they can split you up in to 2 different non-connecting rooms. It is not very nice, but it does happen, as the links minnie61650 posted shows.

Even the things you pay for like room view/preferred location are not guaranteed. Many people, myself include, have paid for one room location only to be shoved into another because of issues at the resorts. And look at the supposed guarantee of non-smoking rooms. All rooms are supposed to be non-smoking, and they still can't guarantee that either!

Again Disney will do their darndest to give you connecting rooms if you request them, but there is no way to be 100% sure you will get them. No matter what the CM tells you on the phone.
