Let me start by saying that: YES!!! The rumors are true! You CAN use Disney gift cards, and it can save a substantial amount of money for your trip.

This is no doubt common knowledge to many of us by now, so many posts on here touch on the subject. This is, after all, where I got a lot of my initial information on using GCs to pay for a Disneyworld trip. I was, like many of you, looking for ways to save money for our upcoming Disney trip (come on, September!). But much of what I saw just confused me even more.

Some posts for explaining about using Disney Visa and rewards points. Others were using gas cards to earn points that saved money that translated into savings for their trip. For me, it was a bit overwhelming, but the gift card idea seemed to make sense. So, I explored it a little bit more; here's what I found.......
(more to follow in the upcoming posts)

OK, so we're ready to start those savings, right?!? Here goes. First let me say that no doubt a lot of people will already know everything I'm going to say and more. That's fine. I just want to help those who like me had trouble understanding how it worked. I hope this DOES help.

There are 3 websites to remember: raise.com, target.com, and disneygiftcards.com. You need to register on each of these sites. Registration is absolutely free! :D

Along with the target registration, I recommend getting a target red card. I personally don't like using actual credit cards to a particular store, so I opted for the debit card version. it works exactly the same way with no credit check...simply debits money from your account.

Once you are registered and have your red card, you are ready to begin. Simple so far. LOL

In the next post I will show you how to use gift cards on these sites to save some serious cash for Disneyworld! TTYL!

Why not if it helps one person out it will be worth it.
Because the method is very fluid. That's the reason why the other thread is so long. Things change and new ideas are offered on that thread. Many of the regulars on that thread have been very helpful to anyone who asks a question. There's no need for someone to create a new thread. Otherwise, maybe someone should start a new Swagbucks thread because they want it all spelled out in one place? Or a new Perk thread? Or maybe a new Debt Dumpers thread?

I agree 100% with this. It's much more complex of a process to be able to condense it into a single post. I can also see it morphing into another long thread. Now we have to check two places since people may not post to both.

While I appreciate what the OP is trying to do here by posting a seemingly concise, step-by-step how-to, the problems I see with this thread is (1) like @Marionnette said, saving on gift cards is a very fluid process that can change with new deals popping up day-by-day, and people have different strategies to realize those savings that are already being shared in the big Disney Gift Card Deals thread (and aren't mentioned in this thread); and (2) unless the OP is willing to post the entire process and all the different strategies in the top post so that everyone can easily access it, and keep that post updated with all the changes and current deals, this thread will remain incomplete or become obsolete and leave savings on the table, or become just as big as the other thread (and therefore redundant).

I went on the other thread. Very confusing. Too long to filter though. I would like to hear the rest of what ajjoplin1 has to say.

Just a warning, the OP mentions raise.com, which is a reseller of gift cards (or store credits). Many of us have used this site for years to buy our Target gift cards. However, there have been multiple people posting here and on other sites that they have been banned by Target. All seem to have the common link of having bought gift cards from reseller sites. So, proceed with caution on that. FYI, we discuss this issue on the main thread.

Step 1: buy gift cards at a discount
Step 2: use this gift cards to buy more gift cards at a discount
Step 3: repeat
Optional step 4: use a shopping portal that rebates part of your purchase

What I do is earn Target gift cards from Perk and Swagbucks, then I go through Mypoints to access Target and order my Disney and other gift cards (Starbucks, Papa John Pizza, Netflix, etc) use my gift cards and red card. I get 2 points per dollar spent through mypoints and save 5% off total Target. I could save a few $$ by getting paypal instead of the Target gift cards, then ordering Target cards from Cardpool, but I like getting the first gift card from Swagbucks for 2200 points instead of 2500.

Happy savings to all.

OP I LOVE your initial idea, but I think like some of the others said, it might get confusing, since there's so many steps in churning, and there's new "glitches" that can get people banned. Maybe instead of laying out the steps for churning we can add DIFFERENT ways that we scored our Target gift cards (other than Raise, swags, perk...). This way we're sharing new information, that doesn't need a whole process to obtain! Maybe everyone already knows EVERY method of obtaining cheap/free cards....or maybe we will teach each other an new outlet to get cards.

I got LUCKY this past year and caught a before Christmas deal. Target had a special where they offered a $200 gift card for a phone upgrade. (there were several particulars, I ended up qualifying). At the same time AT&T was having a BOGO special for upgrades. So I upgraded 2 lines and received $400 in GCs...and am left paying only one payment (from the BOGO).
A couple of days later, Target had a special of 10% off gift cards (up to $300). I used my $200 gift card to buy a $225 gift card...and owed $5 out of pocket. (twice). So I ended up with $450 in cards to buy Disney cards with. (but If I'd been REALLY smart, I would have bought Ebay cards, and churned them!!!)

Thanks! Like others, i tried to read the other thread but got overwhelmed by all the posts. Can I just ask two quick questions:
1) How do you find out about Target having 10% off offers?
2) What would you have bought on eBay? Disney cards?

I do the exact same thing!

I'm a couponer, and I follow deals sites on FB and Insta. They post about all deals not just coupon specific. Target usually runs one GC deal through the year, and at least one during the holidays (last year there were 2-3).

I would have used the EBay gift cards to buy Target gift cards. I would have held them until I got a 5x eBay rewards offer then convert the rewards into more gift cards.

Not kidding:

1) You can find out about pretty much every deal that will save you money towards Disney gift cards in the "other thread."
2) Target gift cards.

I'm new to this too, but every great promotion I've seen has been posted on the other thread as soon as it appears it seems. I agree, it's long and confusing but it is so active that if you just follow it for a few days and ask questions here and there you will learn. To get started: #1 Open a Target Red Card. #2 Join a shopping portal site ( I am currently using iConsumer but there are many. Get used to doing all your churning through this portal. So if you are going to buy a Target card off of Ebay, log into whatever portal you choose FIRST, then search ebay and buy your Target card then) #3 Buy a Target gift card for however much you want to learn with ($100 ?), try to get a discount on this card if you can but it's not imperative. I think buying 1 gift card through Raise ( remember to use your portal first ) is safe just once and will give you around 5% off right off the bat. Now you have a $100 Target card you paid $95 for and earned $1-$2 from your portal. So that's a 6-7% discount. You wait for an eBay promo and use the Target card on Target.com (going through your portal!) to buy an eBay card earning 5% red card discount plus 1-2% portal rewards and you keep going back and forth. Make sure you are signed up to receive ebay promos and when they have a 3x/4x/5x promo on extra bucks. Normally ebay gives you 2% ebay bucks on each purchase but during these promos it will be 6-8, or 10%. That's when the real churners buy and make lots of $$$ on ebay bucks.
